Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Duel

Recap: Chrona, the Primordial Goddess of Time and Space, awakens within the Candy Cosmos and immediately bonds with her new family. Drawn instinctively to Kail's protective presence and fascinated by Genesis's imagination, Chrona reveals her true nature — a being born from the fusion of Spirit Energy and Magic when the Sea of Stars was created. Though her body was formed only recently, Chrona admits she has existed far longer, watching from the cracks between Time and Space.

As she grows closer to Eve, the two begin to play with strange "toys" pulled from future echoes. What starts as harmless fun quickly escalates when Chrona and Eve use their teddy bears as launch platforms, shattering Time and Space and sending themselves 2,032 years into the future.

In this unfamiliar future, Chrona panics — not because she looked ahead, but because she knows Kail will be furious out of pure motherly concern. As she warns Eve not to interact with anything, Eve notices a quiet boy sitting in a field, his energy strangely familiar… like Genesis's.

Before anything more can happen, Chrona desperately prepares to pull them back.

Setting: 2,032 Years into the Future → The Candy Cosmos → The Land of Life

Right before Chrona can pull Eve out of the future, Time and Space suddenly tear open.

A dark 裂裂裂 rip spreads across the sky as Kail steps through, arms crossed—

her black aura of destruction covering her entire body like a restrained storm.

She stares straight at them.

Kail (furious, voice echoing):

"Chrona. Eve."

"…What are you two doing 2,032 YEARS INTO THE FUTUREEEEEEE?!"

Chrona freezes, forcing a nervous smile.

Chrona (scared smile, scratching her head):

"Ummmmm… well you see… what had happened wassssss—"

Eve, completely unbothered, lights up with excitement.

Eve (excited and clueless, bouncing):

"We jumped really, really high in the sky and ended up here!"

"It was soooo funnyyyyyyy!"

"I wanna try it againnnnn!"

Chrona laughs awkwardly, trying to help.

Chrona (laughing nervously):

"Ahhhh yeah… it was really fun."

"Like—a lot of funnnnnn."

Kail closes her eyes and lets out a long sigh.

Her aura flickers…

then settles.

Kail (sighing, rubbing her temple):

"…You know what. I can't be mad at you guys for having fun."

She opens one eye and looks directly at Chrona.

Kail (calm but serious):

"But Chrona… you know just as well as I do how dangerous messing with the future is."

Chrona floats lazily in the air, her expression calm—almost bored.

Chrona (calm, dragging her words):

"Yessss, I knowww."

"That's why it's sooooo boringgggggg."

She sighs dramatically.

Chrona (calm, bored expression):

"You can't do anything fun with the future without risking messing it up."

"Just thinking about it makes me booooredddd."

Kail crosses her arms, watching Chrona carefully.

Kail (measured):

"So I don't have to worry about you messing with the future from here on out?"

Chrona floats higher, casually placing her hands behind her head, legs kicking slightly.

Chrona (relaxed, honest):

"It wasn't my intention to blast into the future."

"I was just super bored…"

She glances at Kail, a small knowing smile forming.

Chrona (smirking):

"And I just wanted a little excitement."

She pauses—then adds softly.

Chrona (eyes closed):

"You know that feeling better than I do, Mom."

For just a moment—

Kail's aura flickers.

Not anger.

Not fear.

Something deeper.

Something hungry.

Chrona suddenly freezes mid-air.

Chrona (shocked, panicking):

"WAIT—"

"…Where IS EVEEEEEEE?!"

Kail's expression snaps instantly.

Kail (shocked):

"What do you mean…?"

Kail turns her head.

Her eyes widen.

Eve is already sprinting across the field, her small figure racing toward the boy sitting quietly, staring at the mountain.

Chrona's face drains of color.

Chrona (panicking):

"EVE—NO—"

Kail and Chrona shout at the same time.

Chrona & Kail (together):

"EVEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

Meanwhile

In the present timeline…

Inside the Candy Cosmos, completely unaware of the chaos unfolding—

Genesis and Adam sit across from each other, floating canvases between them.

Genesis (excited, rolling his shoulders):

"Okkkkk—I'm readyyyyy!!"

"I'm not gonna lose this timeeeeee!!"

Adam (calm expression, not looking up from his painting):

"Father… you've already lost five times."

Genesis (determined, pointing dramatically):

"IT DOESN'T MATTERRRRR HOW MANY TIMES I LOSEEEEE!!"

"I'LL KEEP TRYYYYYYYINGGGGG!!!"

Adam finally looks up.

Adam (calm, serious):

"…Alright."

"But this is the last round."

"Winner takes all."

Genesis's eyes light up.

Genesis (excited, grinning):

"YESSSSS!!"

"LET'S DO THISSSS!!"

Genesis slams his hand down onto his canvas.

Genesis (excited, shouting):

"HEREBY, I SUMMON YOU—"

"HOLY KNIGHT OF HOPE!!"

The painting shines.

Light spills out as the canvas tears open, and a figure steps forward.

A Holy Knight emerges—

gray, shining armor polished like moonlight,

a sword in one hand,

a shield in the other,

standing tall and ready for battle.

The knight plants his feet.

The ground trembles slightly.

Genesis (excited, determined, pointing at Adam):

"YOU'RE GOING DOWN THIS TIME, ADAMMMMM!!"

Adam calmly turns back to his own painting.

With one final brushstroke—

His canvas comes alive.

Light pours out as a massive angelic lion steps forward.

White fur glowing softly,

two massive white wings unfolding behind it,

and a mane made entirely of pure light.

The lion lets out a low, regal roar.

Adam studies Genesis's knight.

Adam (confused, calm):

"Father…"

"Why do you keep making such… weak creations?"

Genesis clenches his fist.

Genesis (determined, serious):

"Just you wait and see."

He looks at the Holy Knight with pride.

He places a hand over his chest.

Genesis (over-the-top with excitement):

"My Holy Knight fights for his people."

"For his family."

"For hope."

Adam blinks once.

Adam (confused, tilting his head):

"…That's the story you gave him?"

The Holy Knight and the Angel Lion stand off, tension filling the Land of Life—

But Genesis suddenly throws his hands up.

Genesis (full of ideas, eyes lighting up):

"WAITTTTTT!!"

"Adam—hold on a second!!"

"We have to give them a Spirit!"

Adam looks over, confused.

Adam (calm expression):

"…Why should we do that, Father?"

Genesis turns toward him, practically glowing with excitement.

Genesis (full of energy, pacing):

"It's boring when they just fight like brainless creations!"

"We can do better than that, Adam!"

"I want to teach my son how to be more creativeeee!"

Adam pauses, thinking.

Adam (calm expression):

"…Yeah, you do have a point."

He tilts his head slightly.

Adam (calm, curious):

"But I have a question, Father."

Genesis stops pacing.

Genesis (confused, curious):

"Hm? Ask away."

Adam looks back at the Holy Knight, then at the Angel Lion.

Adam (calm expression):

"Why do you keep making… weak creations?"

"They don't have any special abilities at all."

Genesis smirks slowly.

Ideas spark in his eyes.

Genesis (smirking, excited):

"You'll see why."

He suddenly claps his hands together.

Genesis (full of ideas):

"But first—let's give them spirits."

"And we need a battlefield for the fight!"

"Oh—and we should totally give them a cool themeeeee!"

Adam exhales softly.

Adam (calm expression):

"Father… you still didn't answer my question."

He shrugs slightly.

Adam (calm):

"But I'll see it through."

"So… what should their spirits be?"

Genesis grins wide.

Genesis (full of energy, pointing at Adam):

"Leave that part to me!"

"While I give them spirits—"

He gestures outward dramatically.

Genesis( Full of energy)

"you create the battlefield!"

Adam nods.

Adam (calm expression):

"Okay, Father."

He pauses.

Then looks around.

Adam (confused):

"…But wait."

"Where are Mother, Eve, and my new sibling Chrona?"

"They've been in the future for a while now."

Genesis waves his hand dismissively, already deep in thought.

Genesis (thinking of spirits, casual):

"Ahhhhh—they'll be fiiiiineeeee."

"Don't get chicken nowwww, Adam."

Adam blinks.

Adam (confused, serious):

"…What is a chicken?"

So Genesis and Adam finish their preparations for their final painting battle. Genesis finishes his Spirit work, and Adam finishes creating the battlefield.

A wormhole opens, leading to another dimension — the battlefield Adam created. Genesis and Adam stand outside the portal, quietly admiring their work.

Genesis (excited):

"Okkkkk, we finished everything! Now let's gooooo!"

Adam (calm expression):

"Wait, Father… you said that you gave them spirits, right?"

Genesis (confused):

"Yeah, that's right. This is going to be so exciting."

Adam (confused):

"But… what about the names?"

Genesis freezes.

Genesis (shocked):

"Ohhhhhh—right… the namessssss. That's easy, let's call them—"

All of a sudden, Genesis's brain shuts off, and he starts floating off into the distance, lost in brain fog.

Adam (calm expression):

"Yeahhhh… Mother and Eve usually do the naming around here."
