I start to retract my steps to leave the throne room area. I make sure not to create noise with my footsteps, my heart keeps hitting hard in my chest.
I try not to think of any word I hear Rex or Mirella say but somehow it keeps pushing itself back to my head like the words are now a part of me.
I'm away from the door and now down the hallway when a voice makes me stop cold on my track.
"Raya."
I pause. I recognize that voice too well. It's strong, deep and authoritative. I slowly looked back.
Rex stands few steps away from the throne room door, his hands behind his back. His eyes are on me, like he already knows my secret.
He moves toward me with long, steady strolls. "What are you doing around here?"
I swallow hard and force a small polite smile. "I was… passing through. Going to the training ground. You know, my daily workout."
Rex raises a brow. "The training ground is on the other side of the pack house. This direction leads back to your room."
