Ren started to check for the mysterious tunnel, which started all his current mysteries, online after just finding that heavy rain, which continued, had caused a flood that blocked the road, and caused near-death experiences for citizens trying to rush back home. In fact, nobody could safely approach the tunnel.
"The tunnel would have been blocked. I will check just in case." He murmured to himself.
He had accepted that his game had somehow come to life, nearly leading to his death through Mr. Piggisim, plus him going through a spiralling cycle of killing copies of his parents.
If just this family game could do this, he would need to ensure all his game designs that he did with Big Daddy Studio.
He had worked with them by giving them several game design proposals and ideas for all their planned horror games. He had to sweat and sleep late for every idea he gave, and now he had to delete those games so that things wouldn't go badly for him and everyone else.
He hissed at the possibility of offending people for this decision, and won't forget about it, but it was what it was.
Not bothering to eat, he stood up and got his backpack- stuffing the two pictures inside, found his transparent purple raincoat, and stepped out to do something he still didn't want to.
The whole city was hit by a downpour of rain, which was accompanied by zigzag-shaped dark clouds.
Ren took a speedy taxi through it all.
During the travel, he thought about his original plan after quitting prison.
Go to the interview for Big Daddy, become a full pro, and dump himself into the sleepless nights of creating games in his horror style; he still wished he had done that.
It was 10:00 AM, and a staff member led him to the candy colored office of Big Daddy Studio.
The studio was a horror specialty part of a popular gaming platform in the country, B Puff, and it was just one of many game studios under B Puff, each of which had its own speciality, as that was how things operated.
Big Daddy Studio was going through a demanding transition while still engaging in daily tasks.
Not that he liked it, but who was he to say anything? He just came here to ensure that he didn't want to invite harm upon anyone, especially himself.
"That is what I am talking about, just a little more!"
Even with transparent sealed glass doors, the scream was still audible. He looked inside.
Several staff members have zombie-like faces with red eyes to show they have been working overnight, and they barely look stable, as some were even fidgeting.
Their large screens displayed a game scene- Among pitch darkness, a male character, burning nonchalantly in bright flames, grabbed and forcefully kissed a woman in a wedding dress, melting her skin in the process, to which she screamed.
"Wonderfully, those late nights were worth it. We need to polish it a bit and probably reduce the gore of the kissing." The head of Big Daddy Studio, Pope, stood by the desk with a full grin
She was a short, ginger, bone-thin, middle-aged woman with POPE tattooed across her neck.
"But ma'am, this is too obviously different from the novel." Big Daddy's game programmer and game planner, Bo Lei, said as he sat by the door, focusing solely on Pope.
Bo was the reason Ren entered Big Daddy.
Bo was desperately looking for a new game proposal online and found Ren.
Nobody knew that Ren's idea would lead to him collecting an award: MOST CREATIVE NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR AWARD. That was how he entered this industry, and he was indebted to Bo in gratitude for helping him through his ups and downs.
"Nonsense, as long as it's good, which it is now, then we are good. The novel was too there and here in my opinion. But this feels more like it." Pope said, admiring a repeat of a horrific game scene with a smile.
"Can we take a break?" Bo asked, adjusting his glasses.
"No. We will rest when we finish polishing this thing." Loud hisses rose from what she said, but she acted as if she didn't hear them.
"I know it is a romance novel, but why do we make these games? I believe this will elevate it because they are intriguing and just wrong. People would love this. No matter what happens when the author sees this, we will still make this novel version. Good luck, everyone." Pope said and strutted out of the room, where she met Ren.
She smiled, "Ren, nice to see you."
Ren smiled back. "Morning, ma'am, how is everything?"
She grabbed his shoulders, still smiling, "You didn't come the day before yesterday for the interview, so we had to hire someone else. She would soon come for work, but you must understand how this works, right?"
Ren felt a sting in his heart. What a wonderful world indeed.
When Big Daddy made mystery horror games, they would be the two minds in sync; it was tricky to hear that.
He hadn't even dropped the reason he came here yet.
"I am not here for the interview. For personal reasons, I would like to delete all of the game proposals I provided." That sounded so wrong, yet there wasn't a better way to discuss it.
"Wow. Calm down, how about this? I heard you got out of prison, how about for old time's sake that I help you find something." She said, stretching her hand out.
Ren felt an even worse sting in his heart. This was what he wanted. But he couldn't agree; this was so unfair.
"I am sorry but I decline, this isn't personal but like I said, personal reasons, that I desire to delete my ideas. Please, for old time's sake, ma'am. I will soon come back, but right now I need this." He said, still shaking Pope, so she won't be left hanging.
She knew him just enough to know when something was odd about him and needed help.
She would agree to his request. He hoped, he even whispered 'please' to let her realize how desperate he was.
The world was in trouble if his proposals came to life.
Pope shrugged and rolled her eyes- that was her own, okay, the weak version.
She agreed, and Ren wanted to cry because he appreciated Pope for this moment. He hugged her and whispered Thank you to her confusion.
