Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Milim paid no mind to the rabbit's struggles, carrying it as she left the office.

But not long after she stepped out, Milim saw a familiar figure.

The bald giant had woken up at some point and was now sitting on the beach, watching a group of children play in the distance.

"Giant uncle, aren't you feeling unwell? Why are you sitting here instead of getting some proper rest?" Milim came up to the bald giant's side and looked up to ask.

"Ah, it's nothing." The bald giant seemed to just snap out of a daze and spoke slowly, "I rested for a while after getting off the ship. I'm mostly better now."

"Then what are you doing sitting here? There's nothing fun to do." Milim looked around and found that, aside from the children playing on the beach, there was nothing else of interest.

"El already told me that everyone from the giant village will be coming to Totto Land." The bald giant's gaze was fixed on the empty sea in the distance. "I want to be here to greet them the moment they arrive."

Milim touched her chin, puzzled. "Weren't you guys separated just a short while ago? There's no need to miss them that much, is there?"

"Hahaha!" The bald giant let out a loud laugh, almost crying with laughter. "Little girl, you don't actually think I miss them, do you?"

"Isn't that it?" Milim really couldn't think of any other reason why the bald giant would wait here so persistently.

"Of course not. I just want to tell them that I was the first giant to arrive in Totto Land, and that I'm also its chief craftsman. They'll be so jealous of me." The giant grinned, laughing proudly.

Milim stared blankly for a moment, then her eyes widened. "That's really the reason?"

"Little girl, what do you know? Being first holds an extraordinary meaning for us giants," the bald giant said, a proud look in his eyes.

"It's like how all giants compete to be the world's number one warrior. What I want to show off is being the first giant to come to Totto Land and the first chief craftsman."

"So you're just going to wait here." Milim looked at the giant, completely baffled. Just sitting here bored for such a trivial reason seemed so pointless.

Milim's clever little mind started turning. She looked at the children in the distance and immediately thought of a plan.

Ignoring the bald giant's astonished look, Milim quickly ran over to the children playing by the shore.

It was unclear what Milim said, but the group of children all looked at the bald giant with surprise. Then, to the giant's utter disbelief!

The group of children came over to him, and one by one, they reached out their hands and started trying to climb onto his body. Feeling the incredibly fragile lives on him, the bald giant didn't dare to move an inch.

He shouted at Milim in a loud voice, "What on earth did you tell them?"

Milim walked to the giant's side. "I just told them that there was a very lonely giant who hoped they would stand on his shoulders to keep him from being lonely."

"It's literally standing on the shoulders of a giant."

"I never agreed to this!" The giant shifted slightly, and a child's figure tumbled down. The bald giant quickly reached out his hand to catch the child.

The boy, who had landed with a plop in the giant's palm, looked at the giant with immense excitement. "Thank you, big giant! I'll definitely climb to your shoulders so you won't feel lonely."

The giant carefully placed the boy back on the ground, and the boy continued his attempt to climb the giant's body.

The giant looked at Milim with a complicated expression. "I didn't expect you to care about me in this way."

"This isn't caring, you know. I just thought you looked too pitiful sitting here all by yourself," Milim said, wagging her finger.

A smile appeared on the giant's face as he said softly, "Thank you, Milim!"

"Then you just have fun playing with these kids here. Remember, you have to keep them safe," Milim said with a smile and a wave, then left.

Hearing the sounds of children laughing and the giant complaining about another kid falling off him, a brilliant smile spread across Milim's face.

She and the bald giant had known each other for many years, and she knew very well that he was a guy who couldn't stand being lonely.

Back in the original giant village, everyone had their own things to do, and the only time they could gather was at night.

But the bald giant was a blacksmith and had to work late every day before he could rest, so he rarely got to spend time with his friends.

Ever since Milim had known the bald giant, although he would complain every time she kicked his door down...

He would always fix the door afterward, awaiting the day that lively voice would appear at his doorway again.

Now that the bald giant was in Totto Land, there was no reason to let him be lonely anymore.

After leaving the beach, the sun gradually set in the west. Milim returned home, opened the door to her room, and found it was still clean and tidy.

Clearly, someone had been coming to clean it every day.

Milim repeated her old routine: she picked up her yukata, went to the hot spring for a bath, and then fell asleep.

Linlin, just like any other day, came to the hot spring to retrieve Milim, like a respawning NPC.

Two comfortable and peaceful days passed quickly. Milim also learned from Linlin that the giants from the giant village were expected to arrive today.

So, Milim woke up especially early today. Grabbing two meat buns and a bottle of juice, she headed towards the port's beach.

When she arrived at the port, she saw a huge tent set up next to it.

Milim peeked inside with great curiosity and found the bald giant fast asleep.

"He's been sleeping here for two days? Giants are really persistent," Milim mused, but she had no intention of waking him.

When she reached the shore, Milim dipped her small hand into the ocean. A strong wave of weakness instantly washed over her entire body.

Milim quickly pulled her hand out of the seawater. Although she still felt weak, she could now use a little of her strength.

Milim was somewhat affected by the Seastone factor in the ocean, but it wasn't a major issue.

In a combat situation, even if Milim fell into the sea, there would be no problem.

Her immense magic power could keep the seawater at bay. If the water got close to her magic, it would likely be vaporized instantly. It was practically impossible for the sea to touch her, unless she deliberately made contact.
