Chapter 7 - Moving House

On this matter, Oscar still didn't have much say. After confirming that the food he manifested could also last for a full day, he and Aos Qin stared at each other, both unsure what to say.

It was a full ten minutes before Auberkim finally spoke. "According to what Xiao Qin said, moving to the city isn't impossible. After all, Shuangshuang and I already have a small name for our food stall in the city. Even if we're worried moving might affect business, at worst we can just push the cart every morning from our new place back to the old location. That's a lot more convenient than living in the village.

The only concern is whether we have enough money to buy a place big enough. My older brother's blacksmith workshop isn't like our food stall, and the cost of living in the city is definitely higher. Would it really be worth it? That's not something we can decide hastily."

Yun Shuangshuang nodded in agreement. Aos Qin thought carefully and realized that his earlier idea was indeed a bit naive.

Just as he was about to give up and think of other ways, Uncle Aubert spoke. "Second Brother, Sister-in-law, listen to me.

I think it's necessary for your family of four to move to the city. What Xiao Qin said makes sense. However, it's not suitable for me to move with you. First of all, I'm the only blacksmith in this village. Over the years, I've helped the villagers and the nearby townsfolk. If I suddenly leave, it wouldn't be right.

Secondly, my weapons are sold under the largest blacksmith shop in the city as consignment goods. That way, they get a share of the profit. But if I move into the city and open my own shop, we'd become competitors. We don't have enough influence in the city for that to be a good idea.

Most importantly, Xiao Qin, even if you're going to provide me with refined materials, you don't need to see me every day. You can store the refined metal at home. Whether I go to the city to deliver products, or your father comes back to the village to buy food or coal, we can just exchange materials then.

My workshop here is spacious, and I'm comfortable with the forge. There's no need to move to the city.

Also, your idea is right, but you don't need to rent one of those expensive commercial-residential properties in the marketplace. You just need a house in a residential area with a spare room where Xiao Qin can forge.

As long as it's not in a prime location, it won't cost much — even in Soto City. And if money's a bit tight, I can lend you some to get started. As for living costs, as long as you don't buy all your food and clothes in the city, it won't be too bad."

Hearing this, everyone fell silent again. Aos Qin thought deeply and realized his uncle's reasoning was indeed very sound.

"Sure enough, when it comes to life experience, I'm still lacking. In my previous life, I was just a college graduate who had never truly entered society."

Seeing that Aos Qin wasn't speaking, Yun Shuangshuang finally broke the silence. "Big Brother is right, but this is a big decision. Auberkim and I need to discuss it properly. For now, the most important thing is to celebrate. There's no rush."

Auberkim nodded in agreement, then stood up with Shuangshuang to start cooking.

With nothing else to do, the three in the living room took out the meditation manual Flander had given them and began studying it.

The first page showed a diagram of the human body's meridians.Comparing it with what he had learned from the Omnipotent Library, Aos Qin noticed that although some meridians were missing, all the main ones were there and correctly placed.

A red line indicated the flow of Soul Power through the body. Comparing it with Yunhai Jue, Aos Qin found that this method — likely created by the "Grandmaster" — was simpler and less effective.

After circulating his Soul Power through one cycle according to the book, Aos Qin confirmed it couldn't compare to Yunhai Jue.

"I wonder how my Yunhai Jue compares to Tang San's Xuantian Technique?" he muttered softly, making sure Oscar and Aubert, who were still studying, didn't hear.

Aos Qin had always wanted to teach Yunhai Jue to his parents and Oscar but couldn't explain its origin.Maybe this was the chance — a year or two later, he could say he figured it out himself by experimenting. He could even share it with the Shrek teachers someday — the stronger they became, the better they could fight Spirit Hall in the future.

Unlike Tang San, Aos Qin had no sectarian pride.

Meanwhile, Oscar and Aubert had finished studying the book. After confirming that Aos Qin also understood it, they all began meditating.

Just in case, Aubert didn't enter meditation immediately but stood guard for the boys, thinking it was their first time.

However, Aos Qin, already familiar with meditation, entered the state almost instantly. Oscar was a little slower but managed fine.

Seeing that both were stable, Aubert finally began meditating himself — though he couldn't help but think,"So this is the difference brought by innate Soul Power? When I first tried meditation, it took me a lot longer to get started."

The three meditated straight until lunchtime. Oscar and Aos Qin didn't feel much change since they had already reached the limit before obtaining their first Soul Rings, but Aubert felt his Soul Power nearly reach level sixteen.

At this rate, he might break through to Great Soul Master before thirty.

That afternoon, Aos Qin and Aubert returned to the forge, while Oscar practiced both meditation and creating sausages to improve his control.

Auberkim and Yun Shuangshuang prepared food for their stall while discussing whether they should really move to Soto City.

By dinnertime, they had made up their minds.

Tomorrow, they'd look for a house in the city. If they found a suitable one, they'd move. Their small courtyard in the village would be left under Aubert's care. Both Oscar and Aos Qin supported the idea.

Perhaps it was the joy of success or their improved control after awakening their Martial Souls, but that night, inside the Omnipotent Library, Aos Qin successfully completed the engraving of the Jungle Knife's core array twice in a row.

He decided that after one more night of practice, he would start engraving the Copper Core Array the day after tomorrow.

Two days passed quickly. Auberkim and Yun Shuangshuang found a house in the city, borrowed some money from Aubert, and bought it.

Now, Auberkim and Oscar ran the food stall, Yun Shuangshuang cleaned the new house, and Aos Qin focused on preparing the copper core engraving.

Activating the Omnipotent Library's scanning function, Aos Qin spent an hour and a half carefully engraving.

After cleaning away the metallic dust, he slowly infused Soul Power into the hollowed core. When a stable beam of light rose from the core, he finally sighed in relief.

Stretching his stiff body, he packed the engraved core and even collected the remaining metal shavings for future forging — good materials to enhance Soul Power affinity couldn't be wasted.

As for assembly, he decided to wait until he was home and alone. He couldn't explain to his family why he knew how to make Soul Guidance Devices. That would have to wait until he reached Shrek Academy.

That night, as soon as he got home, Aos Qin quickly assembled the Jungle Knife.

He then aimed it at a wooden stake as thick as an adult's leg, infused Soul Power, and swung down.

A layer of light wrapped the blade, extending over a foot past its edge — the stake split cleanly in two, the cut surface smooth as glass.

Satisfied, Aos Qin nodded.

He reduced the Soul Power infusion until the light stayed only on the blade's surface, then swung again. This time, he felt obvious resistance — not as effortless, but the wood still split easily into quarters.

Inspecting the blade, he found no change. Soul Power flowed smoothly, with no blockage at all.

"Perfect. This Soul Guidance Device is a success. The Omnipotent Library really saved me a lot of trouble — with it, I don't even have to worry about designing the device myself.

Otherwise, as a liberal arts major in my past life, I'd have no clue how to do this."

As he chopped the rest of the stake into firewood, Aos Qin thought,"Next, I need to practice my sword techniques — at least enough to maintain balance and precision.

Now that I've awakened my Martial Soul, I truly have no combat strength as a Food-type. The next learning path in the Omnipotent Library must focus on enhancing my combat or survival ability.

I'll decide once I get my first Soul Ring — maybe even ask Flander for advice."

Two weeks passed in the blink of an eye. Aos Qin's family was finally ready to move.

The delay after buying the house had mainly been due to building a fermentation oven for bread and a forge for blacksmithing — finishing both in two weeks was already fast.

Early that morning, Aubert arrived with an ox cart to help. They loaded up their belongings and slowly made their way toward Soto City.
