Chapter 14 - Martial Soul Fusion Technique (Part 2)

Aos Qin and Oscar pressed their right hands together, focusing their minds to activate their telepathic link while simultaneously channeling their soul power.

A miraculous phenomenon occurred—their soul powers, which should have remained separate like two unmixed streams, instead merged together where their palms touched.

As if guided by instinct, both shouted in unison,"Return to normal—Cheese-Stretching Grilled Beef Sausage!"

In that instant, dazzling soul power flared between their hands, and a sausage as thick as an adult's forearm materialized, steaming and fragrant enough to make one unconsciously inhale deeply.

Suddenly, Oscar's voice echoed in Aos Qin's mind:"This thing must hurt quite a bit if you hit someone with it, right?"

Then Aos Qin saw his brother gripping the sausage like a short stick, swinging it around experimentally.

Aos Qin slapped his forehead helplessly. He could hardly believe that this childish idiot was actually his twin brother."Big brother… can you please act normal?" Aos Qin's heartfelt cry resonated through their mental link.

Because their minds were still connected, Oscar immediately received his brother's complaint. Realizing how ridiculous he must have looked, Oscar scratched his head with an embarrassed smile and quickly stopped.

Flender and Shao Xin simply assumed the boys were overexcited from using their first Martial Soul Fusion Technique and didn't pay it much mind. Instead, Flender calmly asked,"Alright, describe the effects of this Martial Soul Fusion Technique."

Upon hearing this, Aos Qin and Oscar gathered their thoughts and began to sense the properties of the oversized sausage before them.

After a few breaths, Oscar, whose sausage Martial Soul served as the main component of this fusion, opened his eyes first and said:"Teachers, Dean—this fused sausage works just as the incantation implied. Its main function is recovery."

"If my first Soul Skill mainly restores soul power and stamina, with a minor healing effect," Oscar continued, "then this sausage focuses primarily on healing, while also relieving mental fatigue. I think its effect isn't weaker than the second Soul Skill of a dedicated healing-type Soul Master. I'm not sure whether it could match a third skill, but one thing is certain—its strength will grow as our soul power increases."

"However…" Oscar frowned slightly, "I feel like this Martial Soul Fusion Technique has another possible form of release."

At that moment, Aos Qin, who had been keeping his eyes closed sensing something, finally opened them and nodded."You're not wrong. During the fusion, you subconsciously activated your first Soul Skill while I didn't, which is why the result was based on your Martial Soul."

"If I were the one to activate my skill while you didn't, then the resulting fusion product should be based on my Martial Soul instead."

"Also," he added, "this sausage isn't meant for just one person—it's for four. But using this fusion technique consumes about one-third of both our soul power and some mental energy. It's not too much though; after resting ten minutes or so, we can recover. It won't hinder us from using it again."

Only then did Oscar realize that his soul power had noticeably dropped. A faint sense of mental fatigue set in—similar to how he'd felt after leaving the Star Dou Forest yesterday, though less intense."Feels like… wanting to sleep but can't fall asleep," he murmured, trying to find words for his current state.

Meanwhile, Aos Qin began searching for something to slice the sausage with. Since he already knew they were slightly fatigued, now was the perfect time to test its restorative effect.

While Oscar was still lost in thought, the sausage had quietly slipped from his hand into Aos Qin's.

Seeing his dazed brother, Aos Qin could only shake his head helplessly and sever the mental connection. Wasn't Oscar supposed to be smart? What happened to him?

But delicious food shouldn't go to waste. Such a fragrant, appetizing sausage—how could one just stare at it? What better way to test its power than tasting it firsthand?

Accepting a table knife from Teacher Shao Xin and a small cutting board from Flender, Aos Qin sliced downward.

The sausage casing split open with a soft crack—hot juices and cheese aroma burst forth, spreading through the room. Inside was tender minced beef—not fully ground, but still in small chunks. Between the chunks, melted cheese flowed like golden silk, stretching elastically when pulled.

Without hesitation, Aos Qin divided the sausage evenly into four portions with practiced speed.

Only then did Oscar snap out of his daze, the smell finally dragging him back to reality. Realizing he'd embarrassed himself again, he quickly blamed it on the soul fusion's mental strain."It must've drained too much of my mental energy—that's why my brain slowed down," he thought.

Conveniently forgetting that Aos Qin had used the same skill and wasn't affected at all.

When Aos Qin took a bite, his eyes widened in satisfaction—the tender beef mixed perfectly with molten cheese, creating a rich yet balanced flavor. None of the dryness typical of beef remained, only juicy savoriness.

At that moment, Aos Qin began to wonder: Could this restorative power really come from the legendary "strength of gourmet food"?

Finishing his portion in two quick bites, he quietly observed his condition. Since he wasn't injured, the healing effect didn't apply—but warmth spread through his body, while his mind felt clear and refreshed. The slight fatigue was gone, replaced by mental sharpness equal to waking from a full night's deep sleep.

Opening his eyes, he saw the other three had also finished savoring their portions. Shao Xin looked pleased with his disciples' results, while Flender, no longer shocked by their endless surprises, finally said:

"Alright, attend class for the rest of the morning. We'll test the alternate fusion form this afternoon. I'll leave for now—but before that, Aos Qin, could you let the Academy teachers try your first Soul Skill?"

He smiled meaningfully. "Although we're past our prime cultivation years, our age isn't too high. With your soul skill aiding our meditation speed, we might still have a shot at improving our ranks."

Aos Qin didn't hesitate. Chanting his soul incantation, he conjured five freshly grilled Cheese Beef Burgers onto the table in less than ten seconds. His mastery over his first skill had clearly improved—one burger per second, perfectly executed.

Helping teachers improve their cultivation was something Aos Qin gladly supported. After all, building goodwill with them would only make his learning smoother—something he'd learned in his previous life at university.

He handed one burger directly to Teacher Shao Xin, who accepted it with a smile. The rest, Flender packed into his Storage Soul Guidance Device, intending to share them with the other instructors at lunch.

Flender also needed time to examine the Soul Guidance Device blueprints Aos Qin had given him. The knowledge of crafting such devices had long been lost on the Douluo Continent—though some major powers might still hold fragments, none could mass-produce them anymore.

That was why Soul Guidance Devices were so rare and expensive: combat-aiding ones never sold below 100 gold coins, and large-capacity storage devices could reach thousands of gold coins.

A fortune beyond imagination for commoners like Aos Qin—but for powerful factions, such profits were irresistible.

This thought made Flender wary. As a mere Soul Saint, he couldn't protect the boy alone if greedy forces took notice. Still, he would support Aos Qin's research at all costs.

Since that was the case, he and Shao Xin would bear the responsibility of protecting him.

I'll share these materials with Shao Xin at noon, Flender decided. If the other teachers are interested, they can help study them too.

He also considered another idea: the Academy's battle-type teachers might not urgently need Soul Guidance Devices—but Shao Xin, being a food-type Soul Emperor, certainly would.

Perfect, Flender mused, Old Shao can equip some high-level devices, and I can finally witness the difference between a Soul Engineer and a Soul Master firsthand.
