Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Touch Grass? No, I Would Touch You

Pirate World – Holy Land, Mary Geoise

"The Left Hand of the Gods… the Hand of Hermes?"

Jaeger's eyes glimmered as he felt something warm and alien melt into his flesh. His left arm shimmered—turning black-gold, etched with intricate divine patterns that pulsed faintly with light.

An indescribable pressure spread through the room.

Even without ever having seen a god, Jaeger instinctively knew—this was their power.

[Item: The Hand of Hermes – The Left Hand of the Gods]

[Description: The hand of the fleet-footed thief, Hermes—the messenger who stole his brother Apollo's sacred cattle on the first day of his birth. The wielder of this divine hand may plunder the power or life legend of any being they slay, transforming that essence into a "Noble Phantasm" under their own command.]

Jaeger's lips curved into a grin.

"…So it steals the abilities and legends of the dead, turning them into weapons? Hah… this feels like a mix between Campione! and Fate."

He leaned back, memories flickering in his mind.

Campione!—the godslayers who seized divine authorities from slain deities.

Fate—the Heroic Spirits who wielded Noble Phantasms, weapons born from human myths and legends.

And his own Hand of Hermes… seemed to merge both concepts into one terrifying gift.

Steal the legends of the fallen and forge them into your own myth.

So am I going the Gilgamesh route, spamming powerful Noble Phantasms while staying an all-rounder? Both offense and defense, the golden king of dominance?

"Not bad… not bad at all. Authority, divinity, and theft rolled into one. Definitely my kind of power."

Still, Jaeger wasn't entirely sure of its limits. He clenched his fist, feeling divine energy surge like liquid gold beneath his skin.

"Hm. It looks good on paper… but I'll need to test it myself to see what it can really do."

Satisfied, he smirked and opened the chat interface again. The others were still furiously guessing what his reward might have been.

Casually, Jaeger dropped the info into the group.

He wasn't worried—killing group members was forbidden, and even if someone wanted to exploit his ability, that would depend on one thing in the end...

Strength.

[Group Chat – Friendly Mutual Aid]

Nerona Jaeger: "[Picture]."

Tōsaka Sakura: "Eh? Jaeger-nii sent out the details of his reward?"

Esdeath: "The Hand of Hermes… the Left Hand of the Gods. Interesting. Very interesting. This ability sounds impressive."

Akame ga Kill World – Northern Fortress

Esdeath's eyes gleamed as she stared at the image and description Jaeger had shared.

Her breath caught—just slightly. A tremor of excitement rippled through her body.

Even though she had never seen a god before, even across countless worlds, she could feel it.

That overwhelming pressure—the divinity radiating from that black-gold hand—made her blood boil with ecstasy.

Her lips curved into a smile.

The Hand of a God… an ability that steals the power and legend of those it kills?

How beautiful. How pure.

Even separated by dimensions, the Ice Queen could sense the predatory grace in it, and her heart raced in anticipation.

And in the back of her mind, one thought surfaced, curious and amused:

Probably the strongest reward that's shown up in this group so far.

Others shared similar feelings.

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "What the hell!? Just looking at that picture made my brain feel like it got hit by divine Wi-Fi interference! Is this what they call godly pressure I read in the novels?"

Uchiha Miyuki: "Yeah, I felt that too~ Like the hand reached out and pinched my soul… right on the butt! I swear I jumped!"

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "…Only you could describe a sacred phenomenon like a workplace incident."

Uchiha Miyuki: "Hey, can I help it if even divine hands have good taste?"

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "No, but you could help having brain cells. Try that sometime."

Tōsaka Sakura: "…Miyuki-san, Utaha-senpai… p-please stop talking about the gods touching people's butts."

Uchiha Miyuki: "The Hand of the Gods, the Left Hand of Hermes! Woo-woo-woo, I'm so jealous! If I had that thing, every beautiful woman in the Naruto world would already be in my bag!"

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "…"

Tōsaka Sakura: "…Miyuki-san…"

Yamamoto Mei: "Shut up, slut!"

Yamamoto Mei: "@Jaeger-kun, this looks like a hybrid of Campione! and Type-Moon's Noble Phantasms, doesn't it?"

Esdeath: "Indeed. The more legendary the target you slay, the stronger the weapon you forge from their essence. A hand that grows stronger by killing the strong—how fitting. Truly a 'hand of god.' No limits, only conquest."

Uchiha Miyuki: "Hold up—so if he kills Kaido, does he get a Kaido bat? Like, 'bonk of the dragons' type beat?"

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "Yeah, and if he kills Luffy, he unlocks the 'Rubber Glove of Friendship.' Congratulations, he's now Stretch Armstrong."

Uchiha Miyuki: "You know what else Saint Jaeger could stretch…?"

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "..."

Yamamoto Mei: "..."

Nerona Jaeger: "..."

Uchiha Miyuki: "Wha—?! I meant his fingers! You know, for… combat reasons! Like, stretching attacks and all that! Don't look at me like that!"

Uchiha Miyuki: "I'm serious! It's a very powerful ability! I'm definitely not thinking about something dirty right now!"

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "Of course! This ability's so overpowered it's borderline illegal. Even Japanese light novels would hesitate to hand the protagonist something like this!"

Yamamoto Mei: "Heh, you'd be surprised, Utaha-chan. There are… certain people out there whose powers I wouldn't even dare to describe."

Uchiha Miyuki: "For once, I agree with the old hag. Some beings are better left off the script entirely."

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "Now I'm really curious. Who are you two even talking about?"

Tōsaka Sakura: "…Why did the chat suddenly turned a little scary?"

--

The chat group wasn't made up of clueless rookies.

Every member had seen enough worlds, battles, and absurd plotlines to know when something was truly broken.

And among them, there were two genuine Reincarnators—Yamamoto Mei and Uchiha Miyuki—so they immediately grasped just how terrifying Jaeger's "Hand of God" really was.

This wasn't some overpowered skill bound by world limits or restricted by balance patches.

No—this was a true infinite growth ability.

The kind of power that only got stronger the more blood it spilled.

The hand of a god that fed on legends.

As long as Jaeger kept killing powerful beings, there was no ceiling to what he could become.

Naturally, the chat was full of envy.

Even Esdeath, who normally looked down on most things, had gone suspiciously quiet.

Still, each of them possessed unique powers of their own, none weak by any means—so after a few moments, the envy faded.

And once the awe wore off… a new kind of question crept into the group.

[Group Chat – Friendly Mutual Aid]

Yamamoto Mei: "So, Jaeger-kun… who's the lucky victim for your little divine experiment?"

Uchiha Miyuki: "Yeah, spill it! We don't know what era you dropped into, but we can totally help you pick targets. I vote Celestial Dragon scum first. …Wait, you're one of them. Damn, plot twist."

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "I'm looking forward to it. If possible, please livestream the slaughter for… academic purposes."

Tōsaka Sakura: "E-Eh?! You're all way too casual about this! You're talking about killing people!"

Esdeath: "Hmph. Weaklings exist to be tested upon. If he doesn't start with someone strong, it's just a waste of divinity."

Uchiha Miyuki: "I second that! Go big or go home, Jaeger—no side characters, only bosses."

Jaeger smiled, a cold gleam in his golden eyes.

Nerona Jaeger: "I've landed in the year 1498 of the Sea Calendar. Pirate King Roger surrendered not long ago."

Uchiha Miyuki: "Wait—Roger?! As in the Pirate King Roger?! Holy crap, you spawned right at the start of the golden age! You are so lucky!"

Yamamoto Mei: "Indeed… that's incredible timing, Jaeger-kun. The era's just about to explode."

Esdeath: "The man who conquered the seas… I wonder what kind of divine relic his death could create. The power born from such a legend must be extraordinary."

--

Jaeger's Hand of Hermes didn't just steal abilities.

Its power scaled with the fame, the myth of whoever he killed.

The greater the legend, the greater the treasure forged from their life.

And in this world, there was hardly a name more legendary than Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King himself.

His legend stood at the peak—an untouchable myth of freedom, power, and conquest.

Killing him would yield a Noble Phantasm beyond imagination.

Better yet… Roger was already dying.

Terminally ill.

Voluntarily surrendered.

In other words—an unbeatable reward with almost no risk.

A god-tier exploit written just for him.

There was no doubt: this would become Jaeger's exclusive Noble Phantasm, his first true relic of the gods.

He closed the chat group window and rose from his throne, a dangerous smile forming on his lips.

"Stussy."

His voice echoed through the grand chamber like a divine decree.

The blonde woman appeared instantly, bowing respectfully.

"Yes, Saint Jaeger."

"Contact the Navy," he ordered, his tone calm but absolute.

"Tell Vice Admiral Sakazuki to prepare an escort. I'm visiting Impel Down."

He paused—then his grin widened.

"I want to witness, firsthand, the wailing and miserable fate of those pirate scum."
