After allowing them to grovel sufficiently, I finally declared their forgiveness earned, though I made it clear they should make themselves scarce the next time trouble arose.
I settled into the main living room alongside Philip and Katrina, all of us anticipating Ralph's return from what we hoped would be his final appointment at the infirmary. The guy had been spending far too much time in medical lately.
"Hello, Garcia." Evangeline's voice cut through our conversation as she approached our table uninvited.
"That would be Captain Garcia to you. Pack law requires you to address any High-ranking member by their proper title, which means you'll show her the respect she's earned." Philip's correction was swift and decisive. Katrina reinforced the point by addressing me as Captain while sliding my coffee across the table.
