Watching his conflicted expression, I could sense the guilt weighing on him.
Natalia hadn't left yet, and when she heard how Lorelei spoke to both Reed and Romano, everything clicked. She finally understood why I felt so let down by them.
"Jenifer, are you alright?" Natalia approached me, worried that their treatment had wounded me.
I shook my head, shame flickering in my eyes. "I'm okay, truly. I frightened you before. That's on me—I failed to guide Romano properly, and that's why he's behaving so disrespectfully."
"That's not your responsibility," Natalia said, her tone soft yet unwavering. "After you walked away, I witnessed what Lorelei's really like—the type of woman who could deceive someone like Reed. Romano's behavior makes perfect sense now. You're not to blame."
