Chapter 23 - City of Chaos

Danilo appeared in an area different from what he had imagined. Instead of the still forests, he was outside a city with enormous walls, in front of a gigantic gate. He thought of it as a city because it was huge. If it were a house or a castle, it would at least be inhabited by giants.

Welcome to the City of Chaos.

Fifth Floor of the Celestial Tower.

Hero Arena.

Ascension Mission.

Chaos Level.

60,000 x 1

Looking at the system notifications, he felt somewhat overwhelmed.

— It's 60,000 x 1.

That was too many monsters to kill. He regretted the impossibility of trying everything in one day. He should rest like the others and start the next day when he was more relaxed.

He also thought about his current family—the twins and the three women. His house had only one room, and the living arrangements were a bit complicated. Apparently, they would have to pile up there. Finding a house now was more complicated.

With the arrival of the Celestial Domain, the world should stop for at least a brief period. He believed ordinary people would be afraid to take risks and would stay inside their homes. Opportunists or the powerful would try to use this window to consolidate their power, because they knew the opportunity and dangers the new world presented.

He thought that, if he were one of the powerful, he would gain the ones with strong talents with great benefits. At the same time, he would study their weaknesses—families, their faults. And if one day they tried to rebel, sooner or later, he would control them with that knowledge.

Danilo thought about his weaknesses.

The children were powerful, more than most. His women were not limited by family ties and were completely devoted to him. Only Nzinga Ondjaki Afonso remained. Despite everything, she was a weakness for the twins, but her talent was very useful. Danilo believed that if she died, he would lose the sharing talent. That would be a pity.

She had her children and family. All were obvious weaknesses. These children also had their weaknesses.

Suzeth, Tiago, and Evandro had children. And Selma, little Selma. Danilo remembered the girl. His heart moved. The girl was like glue. She always followed him, especially after turning twenty. Now he realized that by this time, she must have discovered the truth and had become even closer, as if she wanted to seize every opportunity before he left.

He believed that, if she was willing, Danilo could give her the opportunity to follow him and become his adopted daughter.

As for the other three, trash going for a walk.

The big problem was the ex-wife. She had many weaknesses, and her enemies would exploit them. Surely they would also target his family and children.

Except for the twins and maybe Selma. If they attacked the others, he would only have to take revenge for their deaths. After all, it would be insensitive not to.

A notification appeared.

Hidden Mode

While Danilo lost himself in thought and rested outside the gates of the enormous city, he found the hidden mode and clicked on it.

Seeing the hidden difficulty mode, Danilo relaxed more. He chose the hardest one.

He prepared for the fight.

— It's 20,000.

— And this can be done quickly.

Only 20,000, and this can be done quickly.

After choosing, he approached the gate and disappeared.

Danilo appeared in an open space. As he had predicted, it was not a forest. It was a kind of coliseum.

It was packed with people. There was noise everywhere. Everyone was looking at the enormous arena with anticipation.

Danilo also thought it was incredible. Their acoustic isolation spell must be amazing because outside, he couldn't even hear a thing.

People watched him with expectations, seeking pure entertainment. In the stands, which appeared VIP, nothing could be observed due to a glass-like film that isolated them from the noise of ordinary people.

Danilo was confused. At first, he thought he would go to a special zone. He could fight without restraint. But who would have thought he would travel to the upper floors and be displayed like a monkey for others' entertainment?

Mission: Ascension

Level: Chaos

20,000 x 1

After the notification, a huge group of monsters appeared in front of Danilo.

From what he deduced, all 20,000 would not come in stages but would attack all at once.

Which, in a way, was good.

What bothered him was the fact that he was being displayed to fight in front of others like a clown for entertainment.

At Danilo's House

— What are you doing here? — asked Kiela, looking coldly at her brothers, who had a downcast expression.

— Where is Dad? — asked Selma, worried after seeing that their father was not among the group.

She didn't even bother with the new women or their peculiarities. The father wasn't supposed to be alive, but then why didn't he appear with them?

— That's none of your business — Kiela replied to her sister.

She was still very angry at her brothers. She considered the three eldest extremely ungrateful. After all, they were the ones who approached her regarding the supposed paternity with Daniel and tried to isolate her from the father.

She believed that if it weren't for Pancho, and if they hadn't given each other support, she would also have succumbed to the temptation to leave things as they were and never reveal anything. Thanks to the twin's support, she decided to tell.

Although it had destroyed the family, in recent years the brothers had practically been apart.

— Do you have the courage to come here after everything? — she continued.

— Tell me… where is Dad? Where is my father? Where is my father?! — Selma shouted, grabbing her shoulders, crying.

She wanted to respond sarcastically, tell them to screw off. But seeing the pain in her sister's eyes, she couldn't.

Her resentment was with the three eldest. She knew the sister was innocent and knew how much she cared about their father.

Looking at her in that state, suddenly everything made sense. The sister's exaggerated closeness to the father when she was already an adult. She was always glued to him. There were times she slept with her parents, even already in her twenties.

This, of course, started after turning twenty.

— He is on a mission — Kiela replied, looking at her sister with pity.

If she could, she wished at least that her sister were the father's biological daughter, or that he would forgive her. She knew how much Selma cared about him.

Then she hugged her sister tightly.

A snap.

An agonizing scream.

Kiela stepped back, scared. She had forgotten that her attributes had been increased tenfold and her strength was now enormous.

She looked at her sister, writhing in pain, in shock.

Everyone ran to them.

— Sorry… sorry… — Kiela pleaded, crying, while everyone surrounded Selma with concern.

The brothers remembered the same case with their mother. Their attributes were now ten times higher than an ordinary person's.

They were lost. They didn't know what to do. None of them had experience with medicine or nursing.

The family was in chaos. Selma was down, and no one knew where to start.
