Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra Don’t Even Bother Pretending Anymore?

Not bad at all—three blessings in one go.

Daniel was in excellent spirits. That Feith really was a lucky charm.

If the guy hadn't already been blasted into smoke, Daniel would've gladly invited him to the beach for a nice sunbath.

After all, with a face that pale, the guy was clearly suffering from severe anemia. A little sunshine would've done wonders for his health.

Blade walked over and asked, "Feith is dead?"

"If he doesn't have a second phase, then he should be dead for good," Daniel replied.

A faint trace of regret flashed across Blade's face.

He wasn't mourning Feith—he was mourning the few kilos of silver bullets he never got the chance to dig out of Feith's corpse.

As for the strange black flames that devoured Feith, Blade wisely kept silent. Everyone had their own secrets, and digging into them was pointless.

"Since Feith is dead, I should be on my way."

Blade sheathed his silver sword, put on his trademark sunglasses, and returned to his usual cold, stoic demeanor.

[NPC Eric Brooks has left your party]

A system prompt chimed.

Daniel paid it no mind and simply asked with curiosity, "Where are you going? Add me as a friend. Maybe we can team up again later."

Honestly, Daniel had enjoyed teaming with Blade these past few days. A teammate who willingly left all the kills for him was rare indeed.

Blade, now accustomed to Daniel's unusual way of speaking, automatically translated it into something normal in his own head.

"No need for contact info. I'm heading to other cities to continue hunting those bloodsucking vermin hiding in the shadows."

He paused, his voice low and resolute. "And I need to find my mother. There are things I must ask her face-to-face."

"Uh…" Daniel scratched his head, feeling vaguely guilty. "Alright. Good luck."

S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters — Director's Office.

Nick Fury clasped his hands under his chin, his expression solemn.

"So you're telling me… I sent you to investigate a missing persons case, and you discovered the case was tied to so-called vampires. Then you conveniently wiped out the entire vampire presence in New York."

"And during that process, you discovered that their leader performed a mysterious ritual to obtain something called the Blood God's power, intending to lead the vampire race to conquer Earth."

"And finally, you intervened in time, thwarted his plan, and saved humanity from disaster?"

Daniel gave him a thumbs-up. "As expected of the Director! Perfect summary!"

Nick Fury: 灬●

He genuinely didn't know what to say.

A simple missing persons case somehow escalated into an apocalyptic crisis.

The most absurd part? By the time he learned about it, Daniel had already wrapped up the entire situation on his own.

It felt like making a wish upon a shooting star, going to sleep, and then waking up to learn that the star nearly caused doomsday—but everyone else experienced the chaos except you.

Fury rubbed his temples. "For something this big, why didn't you report to me earlier?"

"No need. You would've just assigned the follow-up mission to me anyway. Better to skip the middle steps," Daniel replied matter-of-factly.

Nick Fury: "?"

Who said I'm giving you the follow-up!?

If he'd known vampires were involved, he would've mobilized agents immediately. A few ultraviolet lamps would've sterilized those light-allergic freaks on sight.

But Fury knew Daniel's mind didn't operate normally, so he let it slide.

Besides, Daniel had handled the situation well—apart from the part where he didn't notify him at all.

Still, Fury was genuinely surprised Daniel managed to take down an entire vampire faction single-handedly.

In truth—

Fury had long known Daniel possessed unusual abilities.

After all, someone who could teleport from miles away to S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ at a whim was hard to ignore.

And Daniel wasn't subtle about it at all—performing teleportation, disguise changes, and conjuring objects right in front of him on a daily basis. It was as if Daniel didn't consider Nick Fury a person at all.

He only lost one eye, not both!

So one day, Fury got angry…

Well, he got angry for a moment.

There wasn't much he could do.

Daniel was simply too useful.

Fury gave orders, Daniel executed them, and everything was handled—quick, efficient, and headache-free.

Of course, Daniel occasionally caused disasters and nearly bankrupted S.H.I.E.L.D., but for an agent with a 100% mission completion rate, Fury could endure the financial bleeding.

What he didn't expect was that Daniel was even stronger than he imagined.

Even Feith—nearly immortal—was no match for him. That caught Fury off guard.

Fury narrowed his eye and pushed a prepared file toward Daniel.

"This is your next mission. Once it's done, we'll evaluate whether you qualify for promotion to Level 6 Agent."

[NPC Nick Fury has issued an Identity Advancement Mission]

[Mission: The Ninja Enigma]

[Objective: Investigate a mysterious organization known as The Hand and acquire critical intel for Nick Fury]

[Reward: Eligibility for Level 6 S.H.I.E.L.D. (Hydra) Agent clearance]

Interestingly—

S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra shared the same clearance system.

So basically, those two organizations weren't even pretending to be separate anymore?

Late night.

Following the mission marker, Daniel arrived near a heavily guarded high-rise.

Several security guards stood watch at the entrance, conducting strict inspections on everyone entering the building.

But that wasn't enough to stop him.

Daniel crouched, activated his gravity boots, and ran straight up the side of the building, reaching the rooftop with ease.

He then pulled out a universal key, unlocked the door, and slipped silently inside.

The interior hallway was dim, but every corner was packed with security cameras—full coverage, no blind spots.

The security measures were extremely tight.

Daniel didn't panic. He retrieved a stylish-looking phone from his game inventory.

[Item: Hacker Phone (belonging to a top-tier hacker; capable of breaching most electronic systems)]

He had used this very phone to hack Pierce's office before.

If it worked on S.H.I.E.L.D., breaching a commercial security system was trivial.

After a few swift taps, Daniel successfully infiltrated the camera network and replaced the live feed with looping footage.

"Perfect infiltration."

A faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips. He was quite pleased with himself.

Let's see who dares say I only know how to go full Berserk mode now.

But he had taken only a few steps when a blaring alarm suddenly resounded.

Shouts from security guards mixed into the noise.

"Damn it, someone broke into the building!"

Daniel: "???"
