Chapter 4 - The Famous Hailey

Chapter 3

Star High College

The window slid down, and Kenzie's smug face appeared. "Hey, what the heck are you doing?"

Hazel's eyes widened. "Oh wow, it's Mister Useless bones!" she said as Kenzie stepped out of the car.

Kenzie's expression turned icy. "Wait, what? How dare you call me that! And what are you doing here? Are you stalking me now?" he asked sarcastically.

Hazel snorted. "Me stalk? Oh no, no, no! Why would I stalk a hubbly baffoon like you? I came to school, same as you. And were you BLIND?! You packed exactly where I parked!"

Kenzie smirked. "Wait, what? Lucy... who is Lucy? Oh, you're talking about that cheap bike?" he asked, nodding towards the mangled remains.

Hazel's eyes flashed. "Cheap bike?! That's my ride, you....

Hazel stood tall, her eyes blazing with fury. "Yes, fool! You've crashed Lucy, and now you need to pay for another," she spat.

Kenzie raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "Wait, you mean I should pay for another bike?"

Hazel's eyebrow arched higher. "Yeah, anything wrong with that?"

Kenzie's expression turned cold. "Yes, a lot's wrong! Why would I pay a fool like you? Don't think I didn't come prepared this time around... after what you did to me last time we met," he snapped.

Hazel's smile was sugary sweet. "Oh, really? So you're saying you aren't gonna pay for another Lucy? Right, just like you didn't pay your bills yesterday?"

Kenzie's jaw clenched. "Yeah, I'm not paying. Do your worst."

Hazel's eyes flashed, and she lost it! She whipped out a baseball bat from behind her and went to towards on Kenzie's sports car! Students poured out of the building, eyes wide with shock.

"Oh no, she's surely dead!" someone whispered.

"Yeah, no one messes with Kenzie and gets away scot-free! She has guts!" another student said.

"Why is she dressed like that? She's a tomboy! I'm sure she's the new scholarship student," a girl whispered.

Hazel's destruction was epic: headlights shattered, windscreen cracked, side mirrors torn off... the works!

Kenzie's friends rushed out, killian asked, "Kenzie, what did you do now?! Why is she in our school?!"

Levi stated, "She's the new scholarship student."

Kenzie's eyes were wide with panic. "Please, help me stop this foolish girl! I just bought this car, and if it gets damaged, I'll be grounded!"

Hazel dropped the bat and walked away, leaving Kenzie crying over his ruined ride.

Levi shook his head. "You know you shouldn't have done that, Kenzie. You clearly saw a bike packed there."

Torrence Mansion

As Emily was dropped at the Torrence mansion, Hailey warmly welcomed her at the door. "Hey, how are you? Choose a room that feels like home. Hazel will pick hers when she gets back from school," Hailey said with a smile.

"I'm good, thanks," Emily replied. "Thanks for having us."

Hailey chuckled. "Of course, friend! Come, I'll show you around."

Just then, Ethan Torrence walked in. "Oh, you must be Emily," he said, extending a hand. "Hailey's told me a lot about you."

"Nice meeting you, Victor," Emily replied.

Ethan's expression turned serious. "Sorry to ask, but... is your cancer treatable? What stage is it?"

Emily's voice wivered, "Last stage. Not treatable. The doctor says I have a month left." She held back tears.

Ethan's face softened. "Sorry to hear that. We'll take good care of Hazel for you, I promise."

Ethan added, ", love, I'm going to a meeting, "I'll be back. Take care, Emily."

Star High College

Hazel went straight to the HOD's office, got the school map and locker key, and headed to stash her books. As she closed her locker, a girl blocked her path with a bright smile.

"Do I know you? If not, kindly move," Hazel said, trying to keep it cool.

"Nope, we don't know each other," the girl replied.

"Then move," Hazel said.

"I'm Zinnia. And you are...?" the girl asked, not budging.

Hazel raised an eyebrow. "Why do you want to know?"

"Cause I want us to be friends," Zinnia said with a grin.

Hazel snorted. "Why? Aren't you scared of me like everyone else?"

Zinnia chuckled. "Nope. I know Jack deserved what you did to his car. Behind that tough exterior, there's a soft spot, right?"

Hazel's expression softened. "Hazel that's my name. And I like you. So, we're friends."

Zinnia squealed. "Yey! I've got a new friend! You're a scholarship student like me, right?"

Hazel narrowed her eyes. "Yeah. Is that a problem?"

Life as a scholarship student here is rughhh, you know? Those rich kids be bullying us like crazy. Some even make us... like, they're maid in school, lol," Zinnia explained.

"Oh, so you mean you get bullied too, right?" Hazel asked, brows furrowed.

"Yeah," Zinnia replied, looking away.

"Well, that ends now, 'cause I will be here to protect you, okay?" Hazel assured, puffing out her chest in a childish way.

"Yeah, thanks, Hazel," Zinnia said, beaming .

Hazel grinned. "What are friends for, indeed!"

The bell rang. "Let's go to class. What are you studying?" Hazel asked.

"I'm studying Mechanical Engineering, final year. You?"Zinnia asked.

"Wow, same here! I'm studying Engineering too, final year!" Hazel beamed.

"Yeah, let's go!" Zinnia said, takin' Hazel by the hand and dragging her to class.

When they got to class, they took their seats.

"Hey, Zinnia, where have you been? I've looked all over the school for you," a girl said, coming towards them.

"Oh, sorry, Emory. I was just about to call you," Zinia stated.

"No probs. And who is this? Isn't she the girl who spoiled one of the kings' car?" Emory asked, eyes widenin'.

"Who are the kings?" Hazel asked.

"Don't tell me they are those three guys?" Hazel asked, brows raised.

"Yeah, they're the ones. We call them the kings 'cause they're the most popular, richest, and anthem guys on campus," Zinnia replied.

"What kings are strong, but they're not, especially Mister Useless Bones," Hazel said, smirking.

"Wait, what? Who's Mister Useless Bones? Don't tell me... Kenzie is Mister Useless Bones?" Emory asked, laughing like crazy.
