I can hear it. A fierce battle taking place.
The cut-off hand was moving in-order to defend itself with pure instincts and a hunter trying to kill it.
"We aren't quick enough!"
Elisa screamed at me.
"Don't worry. I'll get us there."
I said.
I had just learnt this trick but I know how to utilise it.
I had always thought to myself that if I could enchant I would definitely do this.
I always wanted to know if it was possible or not.
To do the undoable.
" Why did you stop?! We need to hurry!" Elisa screamed at me.
I closed my eyes.
The wind. I could feel it.
All my senses enhanced after countless deaths.
The immensely cold touch of my dead hand on my closed eye lids.
Imagine it. I must imagine it properly.
Thunder.
Eyes that can capture thunder in all its overwhelming presence.
Then my legs.
Legs faster than the wind.
Faster than words could hear.
You can only enchant something that isn't bound to your soul.
Thankfully, this body of mine was never mine to begin with.
"What are you doing.....?" Elisa said. Shock was clear from her voice.
"Let's go." I replied to her question.
I took a running position.
*Boom*
I launched off.
I was quick.
Too quick infact that normal eyes couldn't even interpret my movements. But my eyes weren't normal. They had been enchanted.
Eyes that could see thunder like a photo framed and legs that could move faster than words can be delivered.
I crossed the entire distance in seconds.
But everything has price.
It always must be paid.
For everything you take, you must give up something of equal value.
*cracckkk*
My bones shattered.
My eyes bulged until they bursted.
I fell on the ground just as quickly I left it.
Elisa grabbed my shoulder and dragged me inside the church, sitting me upright on what I could only assume was a chair.
"What the hell was that?"
She demanded.
"A new trick I came up with. I need it to achieve my goal."
She remained quiet for a bit, healing my wounds.
"I don't like being in debt to you. I hate it. I hate debts. So in return I'll tend to you."
She said.
And so she did .
She tend to my wounds for a while.
I was healing. Slowly but surely I was.
" I am hungry."
No response.
"Hey Elisa..?"
Again no response.
I sat still for a while , waiting for my vision to recover.
As time passed I grew tired, eventually falling asleep.
When I woke up I could see.
Walking was still a challenge but it was doable.
I look around.
She wasn't here.
Hmm?
There was a letter at the center of the church were the remains of the priest were laying.
They were half eaten by now.
I grabbed the blood soaked letter.
It basically said that she was leaving to pursue her own goals and that staying inside the church was the safest choice as I won't be hurt or targetted here.
I looked around.
The church hadn't changed one bit since I was last here.
I approached the great door that led inside, peeping through a small gap in it.
The butler.
He was outside.
Just waiting for me to go out.
I turned back.
In the letter she left she talked about a passage out of here used by the rest of the clergy to escape.
I looked around and eventually found it, using it to leave.
"Hey undead! I know you can hear me.
You can't forever run from me you know? Even if you escape now I'll come and find you, and when I do I'll frame you like an art piece...."
The butler kept on screaming from behind.
I don't care.
I will leave.
I am not trying to be a brave hero who fights evil.
I am trying to achieve my ideal fairytale.
With her.
So I will take the easy , boring way out of this situation.
I took the path.
It led me outside the town.
To the waterfall from which I fell down to reach here.
From there I went out to see the town from afar once again.
Last time I saw it, it was being burnt by her. Now it remained quiet.
Charred.
Bloodied.
I turned back.
I have no business left here.
I looked at the waterfall.
It was tall.
Very tall.
It would be an immense pain in my ass to climb it but I had no choice.
I had to.
Even if I tried to use a similar trick like I did when running away, there's no one to tend to my wounds afterwards and if I were to die here god knows where'd I'd come back.
So I climbed.
And climbed.
And climbed.
For a while..An immensely long while.
Until finally I was there.
At the top.
Again there.
To fight those bastards.
Those four knights.
And this time I had a plan.
A stupid plan but a plan that will work.
