Chapter 11 - Forgot Where We Were

We didn't wait that long as the door to our room was opened by the master key the principal owned. Mr. G was looking at the four of us in shock at first, not expecting to see the girls as there were teachers going to their room currently to get them. He muttered something and one of the professors behind him left. Mr G walked forward with an eerie aura about him that made all of us uncomfortable.

"I am here today because a boy has been killed. I am told that he died by your hands, miss Beck, is that correct?" Mr. Garica asked. Abby didn't speak but nodded her head acknowledging the deed. "Very well explain what happened in detail from the moment you interacted with the boy till his end."

Abby then explained that she had exited the dorm to get dinner then woke up being held while Lucy was trying to defend her they broke the wolf's legs. The boys were making comments that they were going to break Adam's legs worse than the wolf's. Maddy interjected as her life faery was able to explain more. They were jumped by eleven third years and Maddy started naming all eleven of them. The one third year, Jake with a brownnose snake, has the introductory sleep spell that was used to attack the girls from behind.

She then went on to explain that they can find Jeremy Athens and Fred Davis missing their hands. Then went on a tirade that all ten should be expelled and that her father would be hearing about this. That was the first time I ever heard her talk about her father but to be honest it was the normal speech of most of the kids at the academy. What was different was the fact the principal didn't argue with her and actually looked genuinely frightened when she mentioned her father.

Mr. G stumbled with his words as he was trying not to say the wrong thing to Maddy. I learned his tell that day, which was that his right hand started grabbing his leg in a weird pinch of all his fingers grabbing the pant leg and squeezing hard. "We will do a thorough investigation. I assure you miss Young. Please head to the infirmary to get checked up on. I will interrogate your friends later."

Maddy didn't seem to be satisfied but she accepted the answer and walked off pulling me with her. Abby and Adam were close behind as we headed to the infirmary not saying a word. I don't think it registered to any of us the severity of what happened till the nurse saw Abby's clothes and had a look of she was about to faint. Adam had vomit and blood on him from helping Abby so the two of them were quite the sight.

Abby refused to let Adam leave the room after Maddy and I left to give them privacy as she had to have her clothes removed. Abby pleaded with Adam to stay who didn't argue and stayed in the room with her. Maddy and I went to the lounge as we didn't really need to see anyone as we both were fine. We never said it but we both just sat down and waited for both of them to come out of the room.

Several hours passed with Maddy and myself barely speaking, I can't speak for her mind but I was reliving the events of the first fight that didn't have the arena spells blocking fatal hits. Seeing the blood gushing from that kid's neck was wild to say the least. I probably will always remember it as my first witnessing of death, just not my own first kill.

The two came out both with different levels of smiles. Not sure what happened there but the doctor apparently made them feel much better as she walked in the other direction. Maddy was the first to notice them and quickly went to hug her best friend. I gave Adam a fist bump to acknowledge him and we all walked to the cafeteria as we never got to eat.

Rumors were spreading about the incident as the four of us entered the cafeteria. It was the first time I truly felt all eyes were on me as the first death in the academy in over a decade just took place and we were a part of that story. The wild part was that half of the rumors was that Adam killed someone which threw all of us off.

A group of second year students were sitting at the table next to us and were whispering that it was us that killed someone. The whispers were so loud it felt like it was purposeful to be that loud or maybe my ears were just sensitive to it that day but it felt like I could hear every word whispered.

"I heard they killed someone who was torturing a beast." a boy's voice whispered.

"I heard that the kid was being tied down so they could easily kill him." a girl's whisper had an indifferent tone to it.

"I heard they are all going to be expelled to make sure it never happens again!" another boy's voice chimed in.

I was getting annoyed with the whispers and turned to say something when Maddy grabbed my arm. "Don't worry about them, we will be fine, just enjoy your meal ok" She gave me a warm smile that settled me down and I decided to go back to my mana rich milkshake that had an arcane berry that Adam and I both enjoyed and felt it was increasing our arcane powers.

Adam and I went back to our room as the girls went to theirs. We were all exhausted and to be honest we didn't want to part ways but we already had eaten at the last possible time from the cafeteria and it was getting late. We had the next two days off as it was the weekend which meant we would be working on our team strategies and fighting in the arena.

The next morning Adam and I were surprised to find that the two of us had a guest. Mr. G had sent his assistant to inform us knocking on the door right as we were about to head out for breakfast. Adam asked if we could eat first before visiting the guests and the response we got was that it would be a mistake to make our guests wait. This threw both of us off-guard as the only people we would expect would be family who would want us to not be hungry.

Adam and I followed the middle aged man who had a mouse for a beast who was on his shoulder looking at us as we followed. "You two will be powerful together, apart you two can be defeated, but together the world will tremble." I looked at Adam wondering what he thought about the fact that a mouse just spoke to us and made some sort of prophecy.

"Ha, he does that from time to time, he is right sometimes. Sometimes he is completely off the mark by the complete opposite. It's fun to see which comes to fruition!" The small man spoke up as we followed him to the principal's office. Entering the office Adam stopped dead in his tracks and I looked to see what caused it and I didn't understand at all.

Adam suddenly dropped to a knee and put his head down. I knew I had a look of what in the world is going on as I kept looking at the man standing next to Mr. G. Yeah he was dressed in an awesome beast armor set and looked like this guy is probably one of the best beast masters alive if you just went off the presence of his armor, but I still had no idea why Adam reacted the way he did.

"Rise, I do not wish for you to do that, please it is me who should be kneeling to you my child." The large man spoke with a soft tone to his really deep gruff voice. "I am told that it is you two that I have to thank for my daughter and niece's safety." Adam stood up with a stunned look on his face having no idea what he was talking about.
