I honestly had no idea that the first day I laid eyes on Maddy that I was looking at the Princess of the Kilthred Kingdom. Abby and Maddy were more than just best friends, they were cousins, as their fathers are brothers and also the royal princes of the Kilthred Kingdom as their father is the King. When I say I could care less about politics it was even more apparent when we left that room and I had no idea who the hell we just talked to.
Adam couldn't believe I had no idea who the prince and future king was by both sight and name. The whole world of who's who I could care less and even in this situation I wasn't really like woot I met the prince! It was more of 'wow Abby's dad is cool', he hooked us up with a family token. I had no idea what this family token meant but Adam told me to keep it on me at all times for the rest of my life.
We also found out that we would no longer be attending normal classes and would start to take classes with a Mr Jackson. Mr Jackson was a middle aged man who had melded with a single headed arcane wyvern so he was able to give lots of insight to Adam on his beast. He also had deep knowledge of arcane magic, which he told me that I should try to figure out all the different types of attacks as I should be able to do them all.
My brain was dead set on arcane flame as Adam and Dante were so proficient with it. If I had worked on other skills right away I would have realized I had so many more but to be honest the arcane flame was a fun challenge. I could get small flicks of flame but it would go to fire as I for whatever reason struggled to get the flame to go arcane. Mr Jackson speculated I might be more powerful with fire flame to where it makes no sense for it to be arcane. I felt he could be onto something but also it was just out of reach.
We now were only working with Mr Jackson so it was the three of us each day working on all our abilities and how we could double team targets. We were working out and he changed our eating routine. We started eating smaller snacks of high mana and also high strength and agility potions. Apparently the prince ordered everything top of the line for us as we started to become bombarded with more and more benefits for saving Abby and Maddy.
We were changing physically and quickly from the potions and food that we were suddenly given. The one day a strange man came up to us with Mr Jackson standing behind him with his usual stoic self. The strange man measured Adam and then walked to me and measured me. They both then walked away without saying anything.
We spent two months working with Mr Jackson who for the last two weeks was spending more time with me as he had shown everything he could to Adam who was a quick learner and also the food and potions were causing us to grow incredibly fast. That is when I discovered the fact that I could do an arcane orb attack. He had mentioned that he had seen it done before by a beast master that had an arcane falcon.
The last day of school before the month long end of the year beast master academy tournament was an epic day in my book at least. The strange man who had taken our measurements showed up that morning as we left our room. He was standing outside of it with Mr Jackson waiting for us to exit. They ushered us back in and pulled up a trunk, opening it up and displaying pieces of armor in obsidian black with slits of energy coursing through the gear.
"Put this gear on so you can show the Prince how his daughter's saviors are treated." Mr Jackson proudly announced to us. The weird man grabbed the one set and handed it to Adam then turned and grabbed the second set to hand to me. We both quickly stripped down to put the gear on and it was a perfect fit and felt incredible. On top of it both Wispy and Mr Jackson were beaming with explanations about it.
"It has been enhanced with elemental energy, the king's personal forger embedded the armor with gems and many different attributes. I am told that the gems used can have different effects based on the user of the gem. Arcane energy has a unique property to boost energy regeneration and boost the total mana pool that a beast master can utilize. The gems used in this armor should increase both at minimum and might even be given more." Mr Jackson explained.
'This will give me the chance to become a bronze wisp, thank him for me!' Wispy spoke up. 'I can grow from these gems, if we can get more of these gems that would be awesome!'
I hesitated for a minute and Mr. J noticed that I wanted to speak up "Is there something on your mind? I would imagine this has to be enhancing you even more than Mr. Lock." I didn't know what to say but then Wispy said it for me.
The entire room suddenly glowed the arcane purple that Adam and I were becoming more and more used to seeing. None of us had to cover our eyes but the purple light was bright enough to cast shadows. Wispy was suddenly floating next to me the size of a baseball of purple arcane energy.
'Tell Adam to attack us!' Wispy spoke to me. I was confused by the request at first but then figured why not, we both are in superior armor. "Hey Adam, Wispy wants you to attack us." I spoke up which caused Adam to smirk. "Yeah, ok"
He sent an arcane flame from his hand at us and it stopped mid flight as if it was hitting a wall and then I noticed an arcane barrier was placed in the flames path. I looked over at Mr. J who recognized my look and sent an attack as well of arcane flames which also stopped at the same distance from us. Adam changed from a flame to a missile which broke a few feet away from me. He sent two more missiles at different heights with both being blocked at the same distance from me.
I am not sure if my smile was bigger than his but his was huge. "I might not ever be able to hit you!" Adam blurted out flabbergasted with what was happening. I had been decent at deflecting his missiles but not like how Wispy was doing it. Randomly Mr. J attacked from my backside and Wispy blocked it before I even knew it happened.
"Woah, you have one heck of a companion now. How did it get so large? Is it from the armor?" Mr. J was genuinely intrigued as I am pretty sure he was in disbelief at what he was witnessing from Wispy. I informed him that the gems were being fed off of and that is why Wispy was so large and arcane purple. If there were more gems like it maybe it would enhance him even more.
'You need to learn patience, this is all I can be for now, you need to grow yourself. You will not be able to handle me when I am silver rank, being bronze right now I am holding in as much as I can to not overwhelm you as you can barely handle me right now.' Wispy spoke to me, informing me of our situation. To be honest I was feeling extremely weird in this armor and it was the gems that were causing the dizziness.
"You now have dimensional storage spaces built in through the belt buckle. Living material can't be placed in this space but I doubt you could ever fill the space up. Once you place something in it just think of it to summon it back while accessing the space." The strange man explained to us, his voice was much higher pitched than I would have ever expected, almost feminine yet it was a man's voice.
"One last thing, "Obsidian Lock" is all you have to say and your armor will become a belt. You can use this feature to have this armor on you at all times or easily to transport as it's just a belt in its smallest form." Mr J informed us then left the room with the weird guy. We both said Obsidian Lock at the same time and the armor shrank down to a belt as we both were now in our underwear with a belt.
