Kaelen admired the look of the PTV as he got into it.
The exterior was a neat matte black and the steel that it was made of seemed to be strong enough to survive a charge from a Awakened creature.
Not strong enough to survive, just maybe enough to not be ripped completely in half after a single attack.
The inside however
"Ah don't mind the wrappings..." The Awakened women said with a nervous chuckle
There were wrappings lying on the back seat, the front had a little bit as well with a few crumbs here and there
He did not quite know how to respond so he just kept quiet.
'How can such a gorgeous women be such a ...pig."
Unaware of what he had been thinking the Awakened reached to her side where her door pad was and sifting through the wrappers and found something she was looking for, the smile that seemed plastered on her face growing wider.
"Here ya go" She said, tossing a rectangular structure to him
He caught it and analyzed it curiously and then a wide smile like hers appeared on his own face lifting the thoughts and complaints of the filth away
"Thanks."
He said immediately opening the chocolate bar and taking a huge bite out of it, feeling the smooth sweet treat in his mouth.
As he ate she took the opportunity to speak
"Okay so, there are a few things you should know from here on." She started
"When you get to the academy. You will be provided with counseling if you wish, there is also the opportunity to earn a soul shard if you share information regarding your trial and appraisal, that is something that is up to you to decide if you wish to or not."
He nodded remaining quiet
Jet had been from the outskirts like Sunny had been, she knew how vile humans could be and had given Sunny the warning not to speak of those details mentioned - so he would not either
Besides, the reward he would get for spilling his secrets was a single shard most likely of the Awakened rank.
He had enough of those, enough to propel him into becoming a monster and close to becoming a demon.
She continued to speak.
"Within the Academy there is a variety of classes, combat, runic sorcery and a few others like wilderness survival... I wonder how that class still lives..."
She said the last bit with confusion so Kaelen took the opportunity to educate an elder
"Most likely for people like me." He said
"Huh...?" The confusion was evident
"Most people at the Academy have gone to school, they learnt what they need to survive. People like me, outskirt rats don't get that opportunity."
She looked at him deeply as the car came to a stop while a hand full of kids crossed the street.
"I had not thought of that." She admitted
"Well, that's not your fault. Most outskirt rats don't even survive the first nightmare."
The mood turned solemn after that before a chipper cheerful voice interrupted that mood once more.
"Well, you did and you killed an Awakened Devil immediately after."
"I did."
How would she react if he told her this was the second Awakened Devil he fought ? and that he had fought the first one while falling from a seemingly endless sky and that it could shoot wind blades...
'Is this how Sunny feels when he makes his jokes...?'
"Also, I advise you to make friends but..." She started but wondered if she could continue
"Don't get attached too deeply."
Kaelen turned to her
It was different from the 'no one survives the dream realm alone' that he had expected, this one seemed to hold little bit of an opposite meaning
"The dream realm is vicious and unforgiving. Not everyone makes it through, and getting strings attached is dangerous when they can get so easily."
Kaelen felt cold after hearing that.
'Right... people get eaten here.'
In his first nightmare he had been the only human there. He may he seen the boy fail his nightmare but he hadn't been someone Kaelen knew well.
Could he stand it ?
Getting close to someone and then having them die
Something like that had last happened when he was younger, when his mother had died and that nearly broke him. No, it did break him. It was just that he had to pick up the shards I order to survive
What exactly happens when the shards get broken to a point that they become to small to be lifted up ?
Would he loose his mind ?
He didn't want to find out and he could avoid that
He knew who would survive for sure though so it was smart to get close to the main characters like Sunny, Nephis and Cassie
"Well, we're here."
She said as the PTV came to a stop.
"I'm sure you will be fine and Awaken soon, when you do give me a visit."
She said with a bright smile
'Is that her flaw...?'
Kaelen asked himself as he noticed that the girl seemed uncharacteristically happy even when she spoke about not getting close to people. She spoke like it was something she experienced but remained happy regardless
To smile constantly
His guess was correct, though he did not know that since he never received confirmation
"Ah wait, your name? I don't know your name." He realized they hadn't introduced themselves
"Leila, you are...?"
"Kaelen."
"Well Kaelen, get, and learn as much as you can." She said driving of.
Kaelen remained standing there and watched as she drove away. When he could no longer see her he turned towards the Academy
'He was right...'
The awakened academy definitely lived up to its description, especially with how large the gates were.
'I can't wait to meet them.'
It was not very often that someone met their favorite characters no less had the opportunity to grow alongside them
'Wait...'
Another thought appeared that brought more worry than excitement
"I will be sent to the forgotten shore right...?"
Right ?
