Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Wesker's Fake Death

Ada Wong smiled; her charming eyes and ruby-red lips were incredibly alluring.

"Boy, don't flirt so casually. You've only just come of age, haven't you? Are you even eighteen yet?"

"Eighteen is not my limit."

Asa shrugged.

At first, Ada Wong didn't understand what Asa meant, but soon, a blush spread across her face.

Had she just been teased?

"Let's go, Miss Agent. Time for sighs is over."

Since the traps along the way had already been dismantled by the Delta Squad that had passed through earlier, the pair reached the backyard dormitory area without much effort.

"The plants here have also been infected by the T-Virus. Be careful."

"Are you very familiar with this place?"

"As I said before, I am a researcher for the Umbrella Corporation."

The dormitory area was overgrown with monsters infected by the T-Virus; it was none other than Plant 42 from the game.

Under the influence of the T-Virus, this plant had grown to occupy two floors, and its roots could attack others at will like tentacles.

However, just like ordinary plants, Plant 42 was also afraid of herbicides and high temperatures.

After entering the dormitory area, even the ordinary grass on the ground could sprout two greenish tentacles.

A place even more sinister than the mansion had appeared.

"After finishing this mission, I must take a vacation for a while."

Shooting the two tentacles that had lunged from the ground to pieces, Ada Wong's eyes were filled with deep suspicion.

Why did it feel like the Arklay Laboratory after its fall was even more dangerous than before?

"I'm afraid that won't go as you wish, Miss Agent."

Asa replied. They were gradually approaching the main body area of Plant 42, and he was already prepared.

Asa loathed Ada Wong's words.

Who sets a death flag before the final battle?

Pushing open the room door, a massive tentacle struck.

Without a word, Asa pulled an incendiary grenade from his bosom, threw it out, and then quickly shut the door.

Ada Wong froze for a moment, wondering where Asa had pulled the incendiary grenade from.

A violent tremor came from behind the door. Even Plant 42 was helpless against the high heat, its body twisting and contracting behind the door as it burned.

Asa and Ada Wong stepped back two paces. The massive body of Plant 42 caused the floor and door to crack, and the sound of branches lashing out could be heard from time to time.

Fortunately, Plant 42 had no vocal organs; otherwise, it would surely have screamed in pain.

The two continued to retreat until a loud crash echoed; the entire room where Plant 42 resided collapsed, and a deep pit appeared in the center of the dormitory area.

In the center of the pit lay the charred, massive body of Plant 42.

It seems Plant 42 and Plant 24 shared some fate; even their endings were the same.

"Is it over?"

Ada Wong looked at the small pistol in her hand, then at Plant 42 in the deep pit.

[Experience + 50]

"Most of the time, viral plant infections are helpless against high temperatures. You'd better make a note of that; you might need it later."

Ada Wong curled her lip; Asa attitude, as if she would definitely encounter this again later, annoyed her.

After this job was done, she wasn't planning on taking any more contracts in Raccoon City for a while.

...

Ever since the surveillance was inexplicably cut off, events had gradually gone off the rails.

Without surveillance, how could they collect combat data on various types of B.O.W.s? How could Nicholai report back to Sergei?

This test was now meaningless.

Nicholai had assumed it was a setup by Wesker, but even when Nicholai pointed his gun at Wesker's head, the other man remained calm, indicating it wasn't his doing.

Never mind how he could tell the expression under those sunglasses; regardless, the two decided to temporarily join forces and leave this place first.

After the surveillance was cut, the base's system was also tampered with. Except for the elevator, a mechanical device not under the mysterious person's control, almost all other permissions had been locked.

They could no longer manually initiate the laboratory's self-destruct sequence.

They figured the UBCS Delta Team wouldn't be able to discover that they were the masterminds behind locking them inside the mansion.

But things went against their wishes. As soon as they took the elevator out of the underground laboratory, they ran head-on into the Delta Squad, who had arrived at the elevator entrance after enduring many hardships.

There was no explaining it; a firefight ensued.

The two returned to the underground laboratory in a disheveled state, preparing to use the complex environment of the underground lab to stall the Delta Squad.

Or take the other elevator that went directly to the courtyard.

However, Wesker rejected Nicholai's method.

As one of the only two survivors of the Spencer "Wesker Project" who had received early injections of the Progenitor Virus, Wesker was not afraid of Nicholai's threats in a one-on-one fight.

It was just that he had been looking for an opportunity to break away from the Umbrella Corporation and was merely playing along.

Right now, it was indeed a good opportunity.

Wesker had found his chance; he just needed to proceed according to plan.

Inside the Tyrant cultivation facility, Wesker admired the Tyrant T-002 in the culture fluid, his lips curling up.

It was a pity that Chris wasn't there to witness the death of the captain who had trained him and betrayed him; this made Wesker feel somewhat bored.

"Wesker! We don't have much time! Do you have a plan?"

Nicholai reminded him anxiously from behind. The Delta Squad was about to come down from the elevator. Facing five professional mercenaries, Nicholai had zero confidence that he could survive unscathed.

"Oh."

Wesker turned around and looked at this loyal lackey of Sergei, the person who had just been pointing a gun at his back.

There was no need to pretend anymore.

"Who gave you the courage to point a gun at me?"

"What?"

Nicholai thought he had misheard, but the next moment, the figure standing in front of him vanished, and the cold face wearing sunglasses appeared right in front of Nicholai.

"Are... are you kidding me!"

His fragile neck was grabbed by Wesker; Nicholai barely had time to react. He struggled to pry off the hands gripping his neck, but couldn't budge them a single bit.

"Cough, cough..."

Nicholai's face flushed red, and his feet left the ground. Finally, as Wesker tightened his grip, the mastermind of the third game could only reluctantly wrap up his role early.

After killing Nicholai, the only one who knew the truth, Wesker proceeded to the next step. He injected the special mutant strain of the T-Virus he had obtained in advance from his friend William into his body. Combined with the Progenitor Virus already in Wesker's system, it would put Wesker into a state of suspended animation, allowing him to revive after a certain amount of time.

Closing the door, Wesker waited quietly for the actors to arrive.

Without witnesses, how could he prove that he was truly dead?
