Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Truth

"Are you alright?"

Ada Wong pulled Asa up from the ground and curiously touched his bandage-wrapped abdomen with her fingertips. The force was light, but Asa gasped in pain.

"I know a thing or two about battlefield medicine."

Asa said, gasping for air.

A simple bandage wouldn't stop bleeding from a gastric artery.

This thought flashed through Ada Wong's mind, but she didn't ask.

Asa must have a method for rapid healing, just like the syringe he pulled out when he saved Lawrence; otherwise, Ada Wong couldn't imagine how he could treat such a wound in just a few minutes.

However, since Asa was unwilling to elaborate, Ada Wong wouldn't ask.

Asa had secrets, and so did she; for instance, the matter of their identities—FBI agents wouldn't operate alone.

Forget it; meeting a decent person on this mission was good enough. There was no need for them to get to know each other deeply. Once the mission was completed, they would go their separate ways—that was for the best.

Ada Wong thought this, but her mood inexplicably sank.

"Hey, snap out of it."

Asa waved his hand in front of Ada Wong and went over to where Lisa lay on the ground.

After transforming into a monster, Lisa was taller than an average person, and she lay on the ground motionless, as if she were truly dead.

This was a state of feigned death; in reality, the wounds on Lisa's body were already healing.

Asa squatted down, took a syringe from his space, and inserted it directly into a blood vessel on Lisa's body to draw blood.

Ada Wong came to Asa side and finally recognized that Lisa's hood was actually pieced together from the skin of women's faces.

"Monster, just how many people has it killed?"

Even though Ada Wong was well-traveled and experienced, she still felt a wave of nausea.

After storing the fresh blood drawn from Lisa into his space, Asa took out a knife and cut a small piece from Lisa's tentacle, also storing it in his space.

Ada Wong watched the whole process from the side. She was very curious, but wisely chose not to ask.

Even if she asked, Ada Wong guessed Asa answer would definitely be that he was a part-time magician; he would never tell her the truth.

Umbrella Corporation had placed various viruses in Lisa, making her worthy of being called a walking medicine jar. If Arklay Laboratory hadn't ultimately self-destructed, Lisa might have continued to live.

Asa was very interested in the various viruses in her body: the Progenitor Virus mutant strain, the G-Virus, the NE-alpha Parasite, and so on.

After finishing the extraction of blood and flesh, Asa glanced at the watching Ada Wong, turned around, and said: "It's over, shall we continue?"

"Let's go."

Meanwhile, as Ada Wong and Lisa Trevor were engaged in fierce combat, the Delta Squad on the other side finally overcame layer upon layer of difficulties and reached the second floor of the underground laboratory.

They couldn't retrieve the experimental data on the computers; the system had been hacked by an unknown party, and all materials and data were locked. After a simple reboot, they were unable to perform any further operations.

Fortunately, after the system was tampered with, many sealed doors in the underground laboratory opened automatically, saving them the crucial step of decryption.

Thus, the squad shifted their focus to finding the mastermind manipulating the mansion. Before taking the elevator down, they had encountered their former teammate, Nicholai, who had been in a rush.

The truth was revealed: there was a traitor in the team!

The remaining five members of the squad were burning with rage. After reaching the second floor of the underground laboratory, they immediately began searching for traces of Nicholai.

The remaining squad members were five: Delta Squad Captain Mikhail, a former Red Alliance Army officer and a core member of the KGB, who upheld his military duties and prioritized civilians, earning deep respect from his teammates.

Carlos Oliveira, a former member of a South American guerrilla group and the team's assault specialist, known for his upright and cheerful personality.

Ortega, the heavy weapons specialist.

Edward Hughes, the combat medic.

John Crawford, also an assault specialist.

Because the five were fully armed, and because the surveillance and system permissions had been tampered with, they hadn't encountered any insurmountable enemies along the way. Therefore, although the five were very exhausted now, none of them had suffered major injuries.

After the captain contacted Karen and Lawrence, he learned that a young man had arrived at the mansion, and it was that young man who had saved Lawrence and also saved Karen's life from the giant snake.

Upon hearing that the other two were safe and sound, the squad members' spirits were greatly boosted, and they gripped their firearms with renewed strength.

Until they reached a room at the end of the laboratory.

When Nicholai had taken the elevator up, a mysterious man with golden slicked-back hair and sunglasses had appeared for the first time, and now he appeared in the laboratory again.

Inside the room, the blonde man with slicked-back hair stood with his back to them, silently waiting for something, while at the door lay the corpse of Nicholai, his tongue lolling out.

Mikhail and his teammates exchanged glances, their expressions turning grave.

Nicholai and the mysterious man with sunglasses were in cahoots; the Delta Squad had confirmed this back when they clashed on the elevator.

Now, entering the room and seeing that Nicholai had clearly been killed by his accomplice only highlighted the mysterious man's cruelty.

Everyone silently raised their firearms; if the other party made any sudden moves, they would all open fire and turn him into a sieve.

"You finally arrived."

The mysterious blonde man at the end of the laboratory slowly turned around and then took off his sunglasses.

Everyone was shocked, as the person was none other than the actual person in charge of Arklay Laboratory, Albert Wesker.

In the Delta Squad's assumptions, the mastermind behind everything was likely a spy from another faction who had seized control of Arklay Laboratory when it fell; who could have imagined that the biggest traitor was the boss himself.

"Wesker, did you orchestrate everything here?"

Mikhail pointed his gun at Wesker and asked.

Without Chris or his former teammates present, Wesker, who had wanted to perform a grand scene, felt a bit bored. However, he had to go through the motions; he didn't want to be discovered by Umbrella Corporation after going into hiding.

"It was me, including the monsters you encountered along the way—the giant snake, the spiders—I released them all."

"What is your goal in doing this? To destroy the company's data?"

"Destroy the company's data? Hahaha, it seems you are all still just a bunch of lab rats!"

Wesker burst into laughter and then revealed a cruel fact to everyone.

"Your existence was merely to test B.O.W. combat data. The company never intended for you to walk out of this mansion alive. The T-Virus and research data are backed up at every branch; do you think they need you to retrieve them?"

"What!"

"Motherfucker!"

"Cyka Blyat!"

The Delta Squad was shocked to hear this, but they couldn't believe it.
