"You always sound displeased when you talk about my old man."
Was I that obvious?.
"Who wouldn't be envious of such a man, he is well made after all." I said.
"What?"
"I just envy you that's all. I wish I too had a father to worry about." The moment the words left my mouth, I regretted them. Not because they were false, but because they were too honest.
"Sorry about it."
I smiled for no apparent reason. "It's okay. It was a long time ago."
We spoke for a little while longer before I finally retired to my room.
The second the door shut behind me, the expression on my face disappeared.
I loosened my tie slowly and sat at the edge of the bed, staring at nothing.
Just then my phone buzzed. A message appeared across the screen from an unknown number.
You forgot your wristwatch last night again. Guessing some habits are harder to break.
My entire body went still. Another message came in almost immediately.
