ISLA~
By the time I woke again, my body was burning.
That was the first thing I felt as consciousness slowly returned.
The second— was the cold cloth pressed against my forehead.
I frowned slightly before forcing my eyes open.
Elara sat beside the bed scrolling through her phone.
And judging from the exhausted look on her face— I'd been out for a while.
"What are you doing here?" I asked as I slowly sat up.
She looked at me then got up. "You said you were gonna leave the internet on and then you plugged it away. I came to confront you about it, twice and got no response. So the third time I walked in and thank goodness I did."
"Thank goodness?"
"You were running a temperature. You still are." She wore her slippers and was headed now for the door. "I'm leaving, sure the fixer can fix herself."
"You can't pretend not to care now, seeing you here already speaks volumes."
We locked eyes for a while. Then she shook her head and looked away from me. She scoffed.
