Seraphina subtly went wide on the letter in her hand, the name at the back boldly staring back at her.
"I'll read this letter," She said and raised the letter in the air, her eyes meeting Lancelot's that stared at her with calmness.
"I didn't ask," Lancelot remarked, his voice neutral not giving away how he felt. Tilting his head, "Have a good night's rest. I shall retire to work."
Seraphina nodded, words on the tip of her tongue yet afraid to be spoken out. She stood there for some time watching the carriage drive away.
Once Lancelot left her home, her hands flew to her chest not knowing she had been holding her breath. She thought he would speak on the letter. It surprised her he didn't but at the same time, she felt the prickle of annoyance that he didn't.
"My lady!" Marissa beamed, peeking through her door as she pulled out the pins used to hold her hair in place while she undressed. "Welcome back. How did your evening go with Master Lancelot?"
