Walking out of the library, he saw the sun had set, darkness descending. He was surprised to see Eira already waiting for him at the entrance of the hostel.
Immediately she saw him, she smiled, but Matt could see that something was on her mind even though she tried to hide it.
"Matt, we need to discuss something." She smiled.
Matt nodded because he too had something to say.
"I'm sure you have heard the news about my reawakening," she said. Matt nodded at her words.
She let out a sigh. "The academy is planning to give me indoor training and cultivation. Also, I am planning to enter the core part of the academy."
When Matt heard this, he was surprised; it was expected, but he felt genuinely happy for her. "Congratulations, it seems it won't be long before you become popular in the world."
Even though Matt said this, he could see Eira biting her lips. "But…."
Matt saw this, and he knew what was on her mind. He shook his head. "Don't worry about me, and don't let me drag you down. It was what I was planning to say to you too. Don't waste your talent because of me."
Even though Eira heard this, Matt could see her sad face, which made him feel helpless and also realize how strong her feelings were.
"Eira, I know that there are better guys than me. Good for you; don't waste your time on me. Your feelings for me might just be because of our closeness. If you meet with other guys, you will see what I am talking about," Matt planned to be ruthless; his voice was cold.
When Eira heard his words, she broke into tears; such a cold figure was crying. Matt saw this, and he shivered.
He never expected her to cry. Thank goodness, it was dark, and people didn't notice as they were in a corner.
"Matt, it's… only you I like," she said within her sobs. Her words hit Matt; all the ruthless words he planned to say disappeared, and the tips of his ears were all red. He felt helpless.
"Or do you hate me, Matt?" Her sobbing eyes looked at Matt, which made his heart shake, realizing he had made her cry.
He shook his head, his voice became soft, "No, I don't hate you, Eira."
Matt wouldn't lie; he had been aware of Eira's feelings for him, and he took it as something between friends. After his parents died, he felt devastated; she was the closest person to him except for his sister.
During that time, he too developed feelings for her, but his parents mattered, and taking care of his sister made him cast it aside.
All that she had been doing, he knows about it but was pretending not to do it; maybe when she sees another guy, her feelings will change.
Thinking of this brought him pain, but it was the best thing for them that he could do. He would rather not stain her halo, especially when he awakens such a talent.
Eira smiled when she heard his words. He saw that she had stopped crying. "I'm glad you don't hate me."
Her smile was like the rising of the sun; Matt's face turned entirely red, entranced by her.
Eira caught this moment; she wasn't dumb not to realize something. She looked at him. "Matt, you have feelings for me, right?"Her words woke Matt up, his heart racing like a rabbit; he avoided her gaze.
But this made Eira smile; she found him cute currently, "You better not lie to me," she threatened.
Matt froze when he heard this, before he nodded.
Eira smiled, like the sun in the darkness. Matt felt entranced again, his heart beating so loud that it was heard by Eira.
Eira's face blushed, then she did something Matt didn't expect, catching him off guard.
She took that opportunity, kissing Matt on the lips. Matt's eyes were wide open, looking at the figure kissing him, her eyes closed, the tips of her ears red.
Matt got caught in the moment, closing his eyes, savoring her lips.
No one knew that in a corner, these two children were romancing themselves.
Both of them were still newbies; the kiss didn't last longer. Eira rested her head on Matt's chest, too embarrassed to look at him.
Matt chuckled at this sight, finding her expression cute at the moment,
"I never thought Mrs. Genius would be bold in that aspect," he teased.
Eira was shocked by his words, causing her to step on him. Matt cried in pain, looking at her,
"Why did you do that?" He cried out.
"Humph, never tease me like that again," she snorted; she let out an unruly aura.
Matt smiled, looking at her. "Are you embarrassed?" he giggled. "Who would have thought someone as cold as you would be embarrassed?"
"Do you want another?" Eira said fiercely, threatening him. Matt was surprised by how her attitude changed.
"Is anybody there?" They both heard a male voice, which shook them as they tried to hide their figures They were in the porch corner of a garden area; this place was free from the academy lights, only the moon was the light.
They squeezed themselves, holding their breath; their hearts were racing as they would rather not get caught. Their bodies were touching each other; Matt's hormones rose, something poked Eira on her thigh.
Eira touched it out of curiosity when she felt something poking her. When she touched it, with the hardness and hotness, she knew what it was.
This made her whole face as red as a tomato, and Matt was also embarrassed by this. They didn't make any sound; they did not want to get caught.
A few minutes passed, and the person left, which made them release their breath, maintaining distance between themselves and avoiding each other's gaze.
After they calmed down, they left the place. On their way, they held their hands,
Matt looked at Eira, his heart felt fulfilled and happy. "Eira, could you please do something for me?"
Eira raised her eyebrows. "What's it?"
For a moment, her mind went in the wrong direction, a naughty idea going through her mind, making her face all red.
"Can you not hold yourself because of me?" Matt asked, his voice filled with affection.
Eira looked at Matt as she nodded.
"Don't worry about me. After the combat assessment, a year later, don't worry, I promise to stand by your side. Can you wait for me?"
Eira understood what Matt meant; she felt sad for a moment, but she smiled, nodding her head. Even though they wouldn't see each other until that period, it's still okay.
"Promise." She stretched her little finger. Matt smiled, also stretching his little finger as they made a promise.
"Oh yeah, before I forget, have you started absorbing Originat?" he asked.
She shook her head. "No, we were told that we should wait a year after the combat assessment and get our Requiem. We should use the opportunity to make our veins stronger."
She didn't hide anything, telling Matt it all. Matt was surprised; he thought that they would have a special case and receive their Requiem early, but it's not the case.
When he saw this, he told her about the hidden veins and location. Eira was surprised by this; she never expected this, even though their lecturers hadn't told them, but she trusted Matt.
After telling this, both of them toured the academy for a while before Matt escorted her back to her hostel.
