Chapter 25 - Dungeon Battle (3): Death's Door, Reversing Roles

* Evolved Ant Devil: Devil Spawn [Combat Power, 40%] *

Matt's body shook, looking at the ant devil that was before him.

There was a question in his mind.

How?

How did its combat increase?

How?

How the hell did it evolve?

How?

How did it happen?

He felt like breaking down. Forty percent of combat power—how was he supposed to deal with it?

The ant devil twelve eyes were on Matt, burning with hatred. It had devoured the second one to gain this strength; if not for its hatred, it would have died when its evolution came.

It looked at Matt like an ant; its intelligence had increased, and all of Matt's tricks couldn't work anymore.

Matt looked at it while it also looked at him. Matt knew he might not survive, but he wanted to try its strength.

His thought was that there wouldn't be much gap between the other devil ants.

He tried unsheathing his sword, but before he could do so, the ant devil was before him, its eerie twelve eyes on him.

Matt didn't even sense when it moved; all he felt was its threatening aura when it was before him.

This action made Matt realize the gap between them. Now that his thoughts had changed, he had to run for his life.

He quickly moved back, but surprisingly the ant devil didn't chase after him.

Nothing concerned him with this; what mattered was running from death, which was before him.

Matt ran and ran before he looked back and saw he had lost sight of the ant devil. Matt paused, confused by why the ant devil hadn't chased him.

He was still in thought when his body screamed for danger. He subconsciously looked at his back, but he felt nothing.

His body shook as he turned to his front to see the devilish ant standing in front of him. He didn't understand why he felt it was looking at him with ridicule.

It was then everything clicked for him. Matt smiled bitterly. He could feel the hatred that the ant devil had for him, but it didn't chase him. It turned out he felt like an ant before it, wanting to see how the ant would run to.

Matt laughed out an ant was looking at him like an ant. It seems he can't come unscathed without a battle..

Matt unsheathed his sword without wasting any time, and he charged forward, "Sword Combat Skill: Chop."

He chopped his sword forward at the ant devil, but he chopped at nothing. Before he could think of anything, he was sent flying, hitting the wall of the underground structure.

Matt felt immense pain; his entire body was dizzy as his head had hit the wall. He fell to the ground, causing him another round of pain.

Matt didn't know how many bones had been broken; his forehead was bleeding.

Everywhere was blurry for some moments. When Matt gained his sight, he tried standing, but he immediately fell His surroundings had changed, his sword had been sent flying, and Matt felt a searing pain that made him let out a scream of pain.

AARGH!

Matt had never felt such pain before; tears were dropping from his eyes. When the pain reduced, he looked to where he felt pain and saw that the gigantic leg of the ant had pierced his stomach.

He spouts two mouthfuls of blood the next moment that falls on the leg of the ant. His face was pale as he realised he was impaled to the wall of the underground structure. Matt looked at this; he felt weak, losing all battle interest.

He knew that the ant devil would have gone for his heart, killing him completely, but it wanted to torture him, which led to this.

His cloth was rapidly soaked in blood.

The ant devil removed its leg. Matt spouted another mouthful of blood, his body slumped to the ground as he sat on it.

His blood had stained the wall, his entire body couldn't move, and his mind was slipping away into unconsciousness.

His mind was unable to take the pain. Matt knew if he fell unconscious, he would die. He tried to stop it, but he was helpless.

This made him helpless; he now realized the matter of strength—he was just an ant. He looked to see the ant devil that was far from him, looking at him, letting out a shriek of joy.

Matt slipped into unconsciousness, finding his consciousness in a familiar white space.

He looked to see the trunk of the giant milky white tree, which was his veins.

Before he could do anything, his consciousness was absorbed into the tree, fusing it.Meanwhile, in the outside world, Matt's blood had stopped flowing; the ant devil immediately felt something was wrong.

It stretched its leg, aimed for Matt's head, and attacked quickly.

As it got close to Matt's head, just a hair away, Matt's head suddenly tilted, doing the deadly blow, and its leg got lodged in the wall.

The Ant Devil felt danger, which caused it to distance itself, removing its leg.

Matt stood up like a zombie; the next moment, his eyes snapped open, his black eyes had a glow of milky white.

Matt looked at the ant devil that treaded carefully while checking about his body.

When his consciousness fused with the tree, he didn't know how, but according to what information he had in his mind, all of his thirteen veins had been activated.

He had never felt strength like this; his body was full of strength.

If one looks closely, Matt's thirteen veins are glowing. Matt looked at the ant devil; it was time for round two.

He would rather not waste time because his increase in strength was something permanent.

The Ant Devil let out an angry shriek, charging towards Matt, its antenna elongated as it used it to attack Matt.

It got close to Matt. Matt watched this as he activated his Stride Vein.

"Too slow," he muttered. He could see the movement of the ant; it felt like a snail moving.

He dodged to the side, activating the Bravon Vein; his hand pulsed with strength, and he punched the ant on the head, piercing through its brain, his hand coming out from the other end.

He raised his hand that was impaled into the ant head, dragging it as he cut the hand of the ant head into two.

Matt expected the ant to die, but it didn't die as its head joined back its wound healed back.

He frowned, even though Teacher Shizue had said that some devil's cores aren't in their head, but they are special devils, he never thought he would meet one on the first level of the dungeon.

"If your core isn't in your head, then I would punch you until you and your core explode," Matt roared.

The Ant Devil didn't waste time; it had realized the roles had been reversed back to what they were. It was now running for its life.

But where could it run? Its speed was snail-like before Matt.

Matt moved, activating both Bravon and Stride Vein. His body disappeared; he appeared in front of the Ant Devil.

The Ant Devil felt the threat, looking at Matt's hand that hit its head once again, destroying seventy percent of its head.

It let out a shriek of pain, staggering backward, and its head started to regenerate. Even as it regenerated, it was still running for its life.

Matt didn't give it a chance, punching it all over its body. He planned to punch it until they exploded.

The Ant Devil kept running from Matt; he felt helpless before his strength.

Matt kept on punching the Ant Devil, still monitoring this temporary surge of power. This was just within a few minutes.

"Just one punch," Matt muttered.

He moved to deliver the final punch, then the Ant Devil did something surprising. It disappeared.

No, it didn't; it just reduced its size to that of a normal ant, small.

It dropped on Matt's hand, running with quick speed, reaching Matt's neck, and biting him, sucking a drop of his blood.

Matt was caught off guard by this; he didn't expect the ant devil to reduce his size and bite him.

He raised his hand to catch it, but he felt the power reducing; it reduced so quickly that his body felt weak.

"Not at this time," Matt cried out in depression.

Four minutes—this was how long it lasted. Even though he knew it was temporary, he didn't expect it to be cut off at the last moment.

There was still a scythe hanging on his neck that he was still destroying.

His body slumped to the ground, feeling weak; as for the ant devil, Matt couldn't sense its presence.

He felt shocked by this, but Matt didn't know at this moment, a clump of devilish energy appeared above him.

Presently, he had already slipped into unconsciousness.

The devilish energy transformed into a familiar figure that was sitting on the throne,

"jie jie, I just woke up to see such a scene. I wonder where that power came from." The familiar devil that Matt met after the awakening ceremony watched him.

But alas, sadly, he had faded into unconsciousness.

The devil seems to probe into Matt's body, but it was blocked by a force. The devil could see one thing: "What a smart ass." It smiled, its smile that shook one to darkness.

"What a unique boy. It seems this will be fun." The devil let out a dark laugh as it dispersed.
