Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Before the Thunderstorm, Above the Lookout Tower

"Beep beep beep! Beep beep beep!" Just as the two were about to follow A1 Team down, Blue Poison's communicator rang.

After connecting, Gavial's frantic voice came through the communicator.

It turned out that she was working in the Anesthesiology Department today, and there were several patients scheduled for surgery. She found that the anesthetic agents in the operating room were somewhat short. After contacting Kal'tsit, she learned that Blue Poison was currently the only one skilled in preparing medications and also available, which was why she called her for assistance.

Blue Poison couldn't continue to wander with Kanna, so she patted Kanna's head and told her to go play by herself.

The reason for her confidence was naturally Rhodes Island's robust security and monitoring facilities, plus Kanna was a formal Operator, so if any problems arose on the island, she could quickly seek help.

After parting ways with Blue Poison, Kanna looked at the empty corridor, unsure of what to do for a moment.

Just then, Kanna's communicator also rang. After connecting, Kal'tsit's voice came from the other end.

"Kanna, I heard from Scout that you also know there will be a heavy rainstorm passing through. And the news from the Calamity Messenger is that there will be a strong thunderstorm. *cough cough*... So, would you like to..."

Kanna rubbed her dragon horns, thinking that she had eaten a bit too much since arriving at Rhodes Island. It would be good to accumulate some energy in a different way, otherwise, she would truly be seen as a glutton.

Thinking of this, she agreed to Kal'tsit's words. Kal'tsit, curious if any "mortal" could truly face or even absorb lightning, also told Kanna that she would come personally. If Kanna couldn't completely absorb the power of the lightning, Kal'tsit would find a way to redirect the excess electricity away from her.

Kanna felt that Kal'tsit was looking down on her. How could she spit out lightning that was already in her mouth?

Having made her decision, Kanna didn't go further inside but returned the way she came, heading towards the bridge.

When she reached the entrance, she saw Scout leaning there.

"Wow! Are you a monster?!" Although Kanna had seen Scout enter the room, she hadn't seen when he came back out, and was startled by his elusive ability.

"*Cough!* You took the usual main path. There's an emergency passage next to it, but only formal Operators can use it. Also, you can call me Scout. It's a pleasure to meet you, Kanna-chan."

Scout pointed to a very hidden small door next to them and said.

"Since you're here, I'm sure Kal'tsit has already spoken to you, but Outcast still thinks this plan is a bit dangerous. If you're not entirely sure about your safety either, I can help you apply to stop this experiment. After all, thunder is not as docile as the electricity we usually use. The latter can easily kill someone, let alone the completely uncontrollable former."

Facing Kanna, Scout spoke quite a lot, which was rare for him. Mainly, he was worried that Kanna's words might be a bit too overconfident. And children of this age, when trying to save face, might truly hit a wall and still not turn back.

If anything were to happen, it would be a huge blow to Rhodes Island's overall reputation and the cohesion of its Operators.

Kanna looked at the man in front of her. In the story, he only left behind a silhouette and news of his death.

However, the fact that he could lead a team to successfully kill the enemy leader amidst a group of elite Sarkaz proved his infiltration and sniping abilities were extremely strong. If he hadn't sacrificed himself in Chernobog, he would have become the Doctor's sharpest "arrow."

"Uncle Scout, you're a good person. But Kanna isn't lying. Even the fiercest lightning won't harm Kanna. Kanna is confident she can eat all the lightning that falls."

Scout didn't expect his good intentions to earn him an "uncle" card plus a "good person" card, almost making him twist his waist.

"Alright then, do you need me to take you up to the Lookout Tower at the top?" He reluctantly pulled out a card, walked under the bridge, opened the upward elevator next to it, and invited Kanna.

Kanna looked up. Although the Lookout Tower was very high, it didn't exceed the maximum distance of her Star Shift.

She shook her head at Scout, "The elevator is too slow, Uncle Scout. I'll wait for you at the top." With that, a Thunderbolt Wedge appeared in her hand, and with a wave of her small hand, it flew up towards the Lookout Tower.

Scout's pupils constricted. This wasn't just because he noticed that the Thunderbolt Wedge Kanna threw traced a perfect arc and flew precisely onto the Lookout Tower. That level of accuracy and power, unless using a weapon, could only be achieved by top-tier experts if done with just one's body.

Moreover, it didn't disappear after such a long distance, which indicated that this distance was still within Kanna's transfer range. This greatly enhanced the strategic value of Kanna's Originium Arts.

Kanna waved at him, "I'm going up first!" Then she vanished from Scout's sight.

Scout shook his head and walked into the elevator alone.

Upon reaching the top, Scout found Kanna sitting on the edge of the Lookout Tower, while the two Operators on duty at the top of the tower lay sprawled on the ground, dizzy with black smoke rising from them.

"What happened?"

Kanna shrugged, "When Kanna came up, they pointed their weapons at Kanna. Kanna said she came with you, but you were still in the elevator and hadn't come up yet. But they didn't believe her and insisted Kanna surrender. So Kanna just gave them a tiny shock. Don't worry, it'll only paralyze them for a while, no side effects."

Scout covered his eyes after hearing this. He couldn't bear to look. As the person in charge of the Lookout Tower, the personnel stationed here were all his best subordinates.

Yet, these two elites were easily dealt with by Kanna in the ten-odd seconds it took him to go upstairs, possibly even less time.

It was also fortunate that Kanna had no malicious intent, and he saw that her strike was indeed very measured. The two were merely stunned by the instantaneous electric current and would soon regain consciousness.

This gave him a rough estimate of Kanna's actual combat power.

To easily and quickly deal with two elite Operators who were armed and highly vigilant, and to do so without them even issuing a warning, this level of skill could currently only be matched by top-tier Operators like Logos and Ascalon within Rhodes Island.

But what were their identities, and Kanna was still just a Young Dragon. Perhaps when she grew up, she could contend with those old monsters of the Sarkaz Court—Scout sighed at this thought. Thinking of Amiya's genius learning ability under Kal'tsit's tutelage, he couldn't help but lament how terrifying children are nowadays, and wondered if he was truly old and out of touch with the times.

Just as Scout was pondering his age, the two Operators Kanna had electrocuted woke up. As they cautiously stood up, they saw a melancholic Scout squatting nearby, smoking, and Kanna curiously gazing into the distance from the edge of the Lookout Tower, which made them relax.

After all, while it was indeed humiliating for both of them to be taken down by a young girl from the front, the current situation was much better than Rhodes Island losing control of the Lookout Tower.
