"Oh, right, right!" Scout didn't want to argue with Kanna about what an assassin was. He just lay down and gave up.
Kanna saw his attitude and clearly believed he didn't trust her words, which made her very angry.
She stood on the edge of the roof and said,
"I know you probably don't believe what I'm saying, but I can prove it. Conner said, 'Nothing is true, everything is permitted.' A high-level assassin, even without protection, can fall from a great height and be unharmed as long as there's a haystack. I'll show you what an assassin is right now."
With that, Conner leaped from the edge.
By the time Scout reacted and rushed to the edge, he only saw a figure getting smaller and smaller as it plummeted towards the ground... and a pile of trash below.
The distance to the ground was about a hundred meters. If she had prepared for the impact, given Kanna's physical strength demonstrated in the training ground, it shouldn't be a big problem. But she had her arms crossed over her chest, her back to the ground, looking like she was going to smash straight down, which scared Scout out of his wits.
Ignoring his own safety, Scout also dove headfirst towards Kanna's location.
Seeing Scout jump, Kanna cheerfully called out, "I JUMP YOU JUMP," completely unconcerned about whether she would be injured by falling like that.
Next to the trash pile below, Finn wiped the sweat from his forehead, looking refreshed. His squad had spent an entire morning cleaning the deck after receiving the mission, finally gathering all the trash into one pile, just waiting for the cleaning vehicle to haul it away.
Just then, a black shadow fell from the sky, accompanied by a loud thud and several meters of dust rising. Everyone froze.
"Hmph, haha! See, I told you! As long as there's a 'haystack' below, an assassin can fall from any height without harm."
A familiar voice came from the middle of the trash pile. Before they could react, another "thud" echoed as something else landed there.
"Cough, cough, cough! At least give me some time to prepare. Jumping down like that, are you trying to scare me to death?" Another voice, also very familiar, but one they usually only heard on the training ground.
When the dust settled, two figures, one large and one small, covered in gray, were revealed in the middle.
"You... you..." Finn looked at the trash, which had spread across a quarter of the bridge again with a gust of wind, and his blood pressure immediately shot up.
The large and small figures saw A1 Team gathering around and immediately felt that things were not going well.
However, Kanna was one step ahead. Taking advantage of her small stature, she quickly grabbed a handful of dust from the ground and threw it at Scout's head. While Scout's eyes were blinded by the dust, she swiftly slipped through the opening in the encircling group and then darted into the passage of a nearby Lookout Tower.
Scout hadn't expected Kanna to be so shameless, ambushing an old man like him. By the time he reacted, he was already surrounded by A1 Team.
He wasn't as shameless as Kanna, so since he was caught, he didn't struggle.
However, he thought about how his fall was due to Kanna, and the unprotected high-speed descent from such a height still made him dizzy, which was why Kanna had managed to trick him.
This was an affront he, as an Elite Operator, could not accept. He spat out the dust from his mouth and said, "It's my fault for delaying your cleaning, but the culprit is Kanna. That girl jumped from the top of the tower without a word when things didn't go her way, and I jumped to save her. If you want to catch her, it might be a bit troublesome with your skills. How about we work together to catch her? That way, if Kal'tsit asks, you won't be responsible for the unfinished cleaning."
Scout indicated, "If you're not benevolent, I won't be righteous." Since Kanna was going to betray him, he might as well abandon the dark and embrace the light.
The members of A1 Team also knew that Scout wasn't the kind of person to do such inexplicable things. It was likely, as he said, that Kanna, that little one, was the cause of all this.
The several people nodded to each other, agreeing to Scout's plan. Then, with Scout as the leader and A1 Team as support, a temporary Kanna Squad was officially formed—a squad to apprehend the criminal suspect Kanna, who had disrupted A1 Team's mission.
Knowing Kanna's escape direction, Scout took the lead and headed towards the Lookout Tower.
"Two of you come with me inside. The rest of you stand around the tower to prevent the Young Dragon from jumping off in a panic."
After a brief discussion, Finn and Kroos, the most skilled, followed Scout upstairs. The other three positioned themselves in a triangular formation downstairs, surrounding all sides.
Meanwhile, Kanna had no idea she had been betrayed by a "traitor" and that her escape routes were all blocked while the other party acted as a guide.
She skipped and hopped to the top of the tower, and even rinsed her dusty face in the Lookout Tower's sink.
Just as she was about to continue enjoying the scenery, her ears twitched.
There was movement from below, faint but with the footsteps of three people.
She turned to look at the entrance to the top and saw Scout taking the lead, with Finn and Kroos closely following him as they climbed through the entrance.
At this moment, Kanna realized that Scout, that seemingly trustworthy guy, had betrayed her.
Just as she was about to repeat her old trick and jump down to escape, Scout's voice came through.
"Give up! The rest of the team is waiting below. Also, your actions have been reported to Kal'tsit, and an arrest warrant has been officially issued. The area is surrounded by Operators now; you can't escape."
Looking at Scout, whose face was covered in dust, and listening to his words, which sounded very serious but carried a hint of mischief, Kanna just wanted to elegantly flip him off.
Just as Kanna's attention was fully on Scout, a pair of hands clapped on her shoulders.
"Kanna-chan, why did you do this? Why?" A voice like a yandere's, as if from the netherworld, came from behind Kanna.
"Eh!" Kanna slowly turned her head, only to see Finn's blood-red eyes... Ten minutes later, by the trash pile, Amiya looked helplessly at Kanna, who was wringing her hands, head bowed, not daring to look up, appearing ready to admit her mistake.
"Cough, cough! In view of Operator Kanna's dangerous actions, which disrupted A1 Team's original mission and caused A1 Team extreme distress, as compensation, Kanna must complete A1 Team's unfinished mission alone, submit a self-reflection report of no less than ten thousand characters, and publicize it via broadcast in the control room. Furthermore, Operator Kanna's right to access the bridge alone will be revoked until the management committee unanimously agrees to restore it."
She had anticipated the previous punishments, but she hadn't expected to be forbidden from going to the bridge alone. This meant her source of happiness as a scenery enthusiast was gone.
Fortunately, Outcast's departure date was soon; otherwise, constantly wandering inside the ship, even a Young Dragon would get bored after a while.
