Chapter 4 - 4.

The next morning, at the entrance of the town's train station.

Aux yawned, looking a little worn out. Soon, Erza arrived, pulling a flatbed cart piled high with luggage. Along the way, many people cast curious glances at her.

"Looks like you had a wonderful night," Erza teased, hands on her hips, smiling.

Aux shook his head helplessly.

He also thought he would have an unforgettable night, but reality was cruel. Yesterday, he had been wondering where he could scrounge for food. A certain Noble Miss had invited him to her mansion to see goldfish, and since it was hard to refuse her warm invitation, he accepted.

At first, everything went smoothly, and they were chatting comfortably. But the Noble Miss had a younger brother—only a few years old—who became very attached to Aux and insisted on staying with him that night.

Later, the Noble Miss came to his room in secret, but the moment she whispered, she woke up her little brother. To calm the child down, he and the Noble Miss ended up staying awake until morning.

When everyone in the mansion finally woke up, Aux had no choice but to leave regretfully.

Not only did he not hold hands with anyone, he didn't even get a minute of sleep!

"What a loss…" Aux sighed. "I'll visit again someday. That Noble Miss owes me an explanation."

"Let's go."

Erza chuckled before asking, "Do you need help buying a train ticket?"

Of course he did.

Aux was completely penniless; even thinking about traveling was impossible. He needed to reach Magnolia first and figure out a way to earn some money there.

The train sped along the rails. Aux immediately closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. He vaguely heard someone calling him, and when he finally opened his eyes, the train had already stopped at Magnolia Station. Erza was patting his shoulder.

"So," she asked curiously, "which young lady tired you out so much?"

Aux stood, stretched, and grumbled, "I got stuck babysitting a noble family's kid who refused to sleep."

"Oh?" Erza blinked in surprise.

So he hadn't gone around breaking hearts after all.

Outside the station, Erza grabbed her flatbed cart again.

"Stay at the Guild for a couple of days first. After that, decide whether you want to join."

Aux silently followed. In fact, he had already decided last night. Earning money was one reason, but he had also thought of countless interesting ways to use his Enchantment Magic.

For example, applying Gigantification to Happy—letting the tiny Exceed fight Ten Wizard Saints or even dragons.

There were even more amusing possibilities.

From Aux's understanding and years of experimentation, anything could have enchantments applied to it.

He planned to use Feminization on Natsu, just to see what Natsu would look like as a girl.

He wanted to add an inferiority complex to Laxus's personality, just to see what would happen to the rebellious lightning mage.

There were many other types of enchantments he could use—options that never appeared in the original story. But Aux had experimented with similar ideas and could pull them off.

Following Erza, he walked deeper into Magnolia Town.

Compared to a border town, the residents here were far more relaxed. Smiles lingered on their faces, and many of them greeted Erza. It was clear the townspeople had a very close relationship with Fairy Tail.

The entire town was warm and bright with a welcoming atmosphere.

Before long, they reached the Fairy Tail Guild.

The moment they stepped through the wide-open doors, the previously rowdy hall fell completely silent.

Everyone stared at Erza with shock.

"The whole room reeks of alcohol. Cana, is this how you drink?" Erza said sharply.

Her gaze shot toward Cana, who was sitting on top of a table, legs spread, chugging alcohol. Cana quickly stood up and began drinking in a far more ladylike manner.

"Elfman…"

"Macao…"

"Wakaba…"

Erza continued calling names one by one, scolding each of them like a strict disciplinary officer.

Aux watched with wide eyes.

Truly worthy of the name Titania—the Fairy Queen.

"Natsu, Gray!"

Finally, she called again.

"Aye~!"

Aux turned to see Natsu, with his cherry-pink hair and a scarf resembling dragon scales, standing arm-in-arm with Gray. The two were behaving far too friendly—as if they were inseparable brothers.

"Welcome back~"

A gentle voice joined in. Mirajane, wearing a dress, smiled sweetly at them.

Aux's gaze lingered on her.

Judging by her gentle demeanor, the incident where Lisanna disappeared should have already happened.

A pity.

Aux had hoped that if the incident hadn't occurred, he could have saved Lisanna and seen whether Mirajane would retain her old delinquent personality.

Such a waste.

"Oh? Is this handsome guy Erza's boyfriend?" Mirajane teased, covering her mouth as she smiled.

Guild members glanced at Aux—some curious, some amused, some clearly hostile in a "rival" sort of way.

Erza quickly clarified, "He's the demon from the mission request."

"Demon…? Then he must be here to join the Guild," Mirajane said thoughtfully. "Come with me. I'll register your information."

Aux didn't wait for Erza to speak and followed Mirajane into the next room.

The room's simple furnishings made it clear it was meant for receiving outsiders.

Mirajane sat opposite him, pen in hand.

"Name."

"Aux."

"Age."

"Eighteen."

"Magic?"

"Enchantment Magic. I can add various attributes to people—speed, strength, defense, and more."

With that, registration was complete.

Mirajane gathered the papers and smiled. "Once the Guild Master approves, you'll receive your Guild emblem. Welcome to Fairy Tail!"

Aux nodded. "Thank you."

Returning to the main hall, he found the noise had returned. Everyone was chatting again.

Aux sat down, scanning the Guild members and wondering who he should enchant first.

"Your name's Aux, right? What kind of magic do you use? Wanna fight me?"

Natsu approached eagerly, flames already forming in his hands.

Gray watched from behind, curious.

Everyone in the Guild seemed interested in seeing the newcomer's strength.

"I don't fight," Aux said with a polite smile. "I only use supportive magic."

Only violent barbarians fought without thinking. He was a mage who preferred solving problems with his mind.

"Supportive magic?"

Hearing that, many members immediately lost interest.

They had been expecting something impressive, but it turned out to be simple support magic.

Someone like that would likely struggle to stand out in Fairy Tail.

Surely, he couldn't compare to Natsu, Gray, Erza, or the others.
