Beep! Beep! Beep!
A harsh, urgent ringtone cut through Lin Mo and Saitama's gaming session.
Lin Mo picked up. Jace's panicked voice exploded from the other end.
"Hello? Mr. King? Emergency! A monstrously huge creature has appeared in City D—its destructive power is off the charts!"
"The Association has issued a Dragon-level disaster alert and is urgently mobilizing S-Class heroes! It's critical—we need you on site, now!"
A giant…?
Lin Mo's heart lurched. At this timing… the Giant Younger Brother?
He rifled through the original timeline in his head. Yeah, this lined up. But there was one tiny problem…
One-Punch Man was still getting bodied by the tutorial mobs right here in front of him!
He glanced at Saitama—who was currently rubbing his shiny head in frustration over another Game Over—and answered steadily into the phone: "Understood. I'll head out at once."
He hung up and immediately grabbed Saitama's arm, hauling him for the door.
"Hey, hey—what's the rush?"
Dragged along, Saitama craned back toward the table. "My save file! And the laptop—aren't we taking it?"
"The staff will hold it for us!" Lin Mo shouted without looking back, feet never slowing.
"There's a monster. We need to move!"
"Oh? A monster?"
The word flipped a switch in Saitama. He stopped, seized Lin Mo's forearm instead, and said, "Hold on tight."
Before Lin Mo could react, an irresistible force yanked him forward. The world smeared; wind howled in his ears; his soul felt like it might fly out the back of his skull.
"Not… that… fast!"
—
The giant—thousands of meters tall—had already turned half the city into rubble.
Human armies were toys before him. Missiles couldn't so much as scuff his skin.
"See that, little brother?" the elder crowed from the titan's broad shoulder, arms flung wide in manic glee. "This is absolute power! This is the world we'll rule!"
"Yeah!" the giant rumbled.
He raised a palm toward the Hero Association's local HQ. "Even King is nothing befo—"
A force stopped his punch cold.
"What?" The elder's grin froze.
Both brothers stared upward.
A petite figure hovered above them, green curls drifting, emerald eyes winter-cold.
"So you're the Dragon-level," Tornado of Terror said, the corner of her mouth quirking. "King isn't here? Then I win our little bet."
"You're… a hero?" The elder squinted, then burst into louder laughter.
"Ha! Is the Association out of people? They sent a snot-nosed little girl to die?"
"Brother! Crush her!"
"Roooar!"
The giant bellowed and swung his free arm at Tornado. The punch-wind alone blew the remaining buildings away and rolled a wave of destruction across the ground.
Tornado didn't even blink.
She didn't lift a finger.
The fist stopped tens of meters short of her, caught by a translucent green barrier. No matter how the giant strained, that thin film didn't tremble.
"Im… possible?" the elder croaked, eyes bulging.
"Too slow," Tornado said, picking her ear, bored. "And too weak—like a tickle."
Her gaze slid to the elder perched on the giant's shoulder. "Honestly, the buzzing fly on top of this big lug is more annoying."
She flicked her hand.
"Gyaaah—!"
Telekinesis ripped the elder off his brother's shoulder and hurled him into the shell of a distant building like trash. Whether he lived was anyone's guess.
The giant went berserk.
He hammered the barrier with both fists, detonations rattling the sky, the ground collapsing under his feet.
The pale-green shield didn't so much as ripple.
"Enough games."
Tornado's patience ran out. She had a bet to win; no time for a tantruming giant.
"Let me show you real power."
She lifted her chin. Her eyes pierced the atmosphere, into the deep black.
Her palm opened toward the void.
Vvvvvmm—
A vast surge of psychic power shot upward, spanning tens of thousands of kilometers, reaching the asteroid belt.
Association staff watching via satellite saw something they would never forget.
In broad daylight, a "star" appeared in the sky.
No—no star.
A burning black point with a long tail, ballooning larger and larger at an impossible speed.
"W-what is that?" a staffer stammered at HQ, pointing at the screen.
"A… meteor?" a portly executive blanched. "She… she pulled a meteor down from space!?"
On the ground, the giant felt the crushing, world-ending pressure. He stopped, stunned, and lifted his gaze. The meteor now covered half the sky. For the first time, fear filled his eyes.
"N… no way…" His pupils shook. Disbelief choked his voice.
"As a salute to winning my bet," Tornado murmured, "you can vanish with honor."
She waved down.
Civilians had already been evacuated to safety. Rebuilding? Not her concern.
For an instant, white light swallowed the world.
