The call came when Jade had just turned 22.
Bella had gone to college in Italy of all places.
It was as if the plot was drawing her toward it.
What even Jade didn't expect was to teleport right into the throne room at Volterra. Bella hadn't gotten to her location yet and had succumbed to her nervous, panicked rambling and so Jade had teleported recklessly to her location. No mask or cloak to hide her now.
"Jade!" Bella gasped, looking down at the phone in her sister's hand that I echoed her voice.
Jade took in her surroundings. The brick laden ceilings, the columns that were lined with black cloaked Volturi guard all on high alert as soon as she arrived. The thrones sat on top of a burgundy curtained dais, and all the kings were in attendance.
Aro grinned with delight, Caius scowled and Marcus's usually blank features were tinged with worry.
"Ah the elusive J! Could you explain how this young woman survived being drained by one of our guard."
"It was Edward Cullen." Her sister gasped to the side.
Jade pursed her lips, "I can wipe her memories of the event, she'll never know she came across you all."
Aro clapped his hands in glee, "Ah but you see she knew enough to call you regarding red eyes."
"We've been attacked before but she didn't see to the full extent of what the nomad was. I warned her against the red eyes but told her knowing what they were would lead her to her death."
Aro leaned back in his throne, a creepy smile on his lips. "Ah but you know."
"I've always known since the moment I've arrived in this world." Jade tilted her head to the side, "Surely your brother has shown you our conversations. I am not completely human, thus does your law actually apply to me?"
"And does your sister know what you are not?"
"I've always known Jade was more, that's never stopped me from loving her." Bella stepped forward while still shaking from head to toe.
Aro hummed and held out his hand to Jade, "I'm curious if you have the same gift as your sister."
"I do not."
"Humor me."
Jade glanced around and weighed her options, before stepping forward knowing it could mean her death but not sure how to escape with her sister in one piece. She placed her hand in his, knowing it meant her doom.
Only to watch as his face got more and more confused.
"Your thoughts are strange, I've never heard it before."
An idea came in her mind, "Su su."
"Yes! What is it?"
Jade grinned, "Oh an ancient language from worlds away."
It would seem her thoughts could not be read, as they were in Simlish.
"Curiouser and curiouser." Marcus quoted to the side, a hint of a smile flashing through his features until it was gone.
