Adrian looked at the recipes and sighed heavily, from his calculations, he was going to lose around 11.5 liters of energy-infused water and 1% of energy.

That was excluding the cost of bonding spheres he was planning to fabricate.

'Each bonding sphere takes around 1.1 liters, so I should just make 5, pushing the total to 17 liters.'

It was a huge loss, considering that each liter of energy infused water took 1-5% of his area's energy.

But Adrian simply saw it as an investment, so he wasn't all too sad.

He made his way towards the zombie who was still snapping the branches he had collected.

By now, quite a decent pile had been collected.

Adrian's eyes widened looking at the pile, first-handedly feeling the benefits of having a sla- a mandatory volunteer.

However he remembered that the zombie wasn't that useful outside of the area, so he had no chance of involving him in the hunt.

Considering the meagre 3 stat in his defence, maybe that was for the best.

"Haah, good job…" Adrian looked at the undead with a hum, "Maybe I should name you? Since you were a farmer and now a zombie, how about Farzom?

Hah, it's poetic, the farmer became a zombie and was thus named Farzom, that's funny. Isn't it?" he asked Farzom, who didn't even glance at Adrian and kept snapping the branches professionally.

The branches that felt a little thick for Adrian to break easily, were being snapped by Farzom without breaking a sweat… if he could do so, to begin with.

Adrian realized that his humour was getting broken and his mind was starting to feel too lonely in the middle of forest in a scientifically advanced but post-apocalyptic world.

Lonely enough that he had no one to talk to except from his captured zombie and an AI that could burn him into crisp with a single shock.

Though, thinking about the loneliness, Adrian was hit by the remembrance of a new tab he had thoroughly ignored till yet.

He leaned down and picked up all the wooden chips he could, and took them inside the control room, setting them in a corner away from the centermost tile, as he knew that it would soon pop open when he began the fabrication.

After making a couple rounds, Adrian had gathered most of the wooden chips, repulsing at the red bloody marks that were on some of the chips.

He separated those dirtier chips and gathered the cleaner ones on the other side.

'I should ask Farzom to clean himself, I think.' Adrian went to the monitor and clicked onto the control hub.

After changing the tap settings to flow with purified water instead of energy-infused one, Adrian ordered Farzom to take a thorough bath under the tap outside of the control room.

Then he finally set his eyes on the Map tab.

In front of his eyes, a giant map opened up, but unluckily, all of it was marked black except a small circular green spot of his area and its immediate surroundings.

Adrian pinched his fingers and tried to zoom in the map towards his area, and soon, he could see a blue circle surrounding a piece of land, which contained some trees, grass, and a white dot in the middle.

Around the circular area, similar topography could be observed without a change.

Long, grassy plains as far as sight could go, and trees growing every once in a while.

There were a variety of bushes growing around him, and Adrian had yet to examine all the bushes that were in his area.

'Map is pretty useless for now,' Adrian glanced at the radar, but then shook his head and threw the idea in a dustbin.

There was no way he was going to risk 50% of his energy on a single scan.

Sure, maybe it could reveal many useful things, but what good were the riches when his life was in danger?

Finding no gain in Map, Adrian walked back to the pile of wooden chips and began to count them slowly, while intoning, "Talent Window."

As usual, the hologram popped open, but after checking for any changes, Adrian scrolled to the bottom.

Adrian first clicked on the friends chat, wondering if there might be any recommendation system like modern sns applications.

[[ Friends Chat (0)

Sadly, the talent window gave no recommendations about who to add as friends.

[[ Cynthia: Hello, Adrian! ]]

[[ Shawn: Sup, Adrian. ]]

[[ Onkar: So as I was saying dude, there is fuckin' weed growing in my area. I tested it, it's genuinely good shit. ]]

[[ Darron: I'll buy, how much? ]]

[[ Jadie: Brah, where will you get the paper from? ]]

[[ Onkar: Where there is will, there is way, fellas. ]]

[[ Harris: I wanna buy too, where is your area at? ]]

Adrian stared at the holographic chat blankly, his joining message was easily buried along with the greetings he received, as the current topic felt more interesting to some guys.

He suddenly got a thought, what would happen if someone's monitor was destroyed? Won't they be crippled for life? Stuck in this world with just the talent window, which is essentially useless by itself?

His eyes narrowed to the chat again, wondering if Onkar was going to reveal his location in the excitement…
