Chapter 10 - Fate

Adrian lurked in the regional chat, simply reading through the messages without interfering or texting anything.

'According to the names, there are a whole sort of nationalities mixed in there, but somehow everything is translated for my understanding.'

[[ Onkar: Ah shi, I just smoked a blunt and lemme tell you guys, this shit is HARD. I ain't selling any. ]]

[[ Evangeline: Can we just change the topic? I would like to ask how hard is it to catch a fricking beast? I already wasted 2 spheres! ]]

[[ Durren: Well depends, what were you trying to catch? ]]

[[ Evangeline: A dog like beast, it looked like husky but bigger and meaner. ]]

[[ Onkar: That must have been some high level one, I managed to catch a zombie, he was just 1 level. ]]

[[ Cynthia: I am having the same issue, I wanted to catch a cute looking black cat, but my sphere can't even hit it! She jumps into the shadow the moment I throw a sphere, and it doesn't help that the sphere is hella delicate! It breaks after a single throw! ]]

Adrian raised an eyebrow at Cynthia's message, he remembered seeing a cat that fit the descriptions given by Cynthia.

Did it mean that the cat was a common beast? Or if Cynthia was close to his area?

[[ Shawn: Sounds like a skill issue, babe. ]]

[[ Cynthia: Oh yea? What did you catch then, hot shot? ]]

[[ Shawn: A level 3 zombie, took 2 tries but I managed. ]]

Adrian hummed, obviously, everyone in the region chat were people who had already caught something, as this section only unlocked after completing the tutorial.

But it was surprising that everyone in the chat had caught zombies as their first bond.

Just like Adrian.

He also realized that no one was slacking, even the goofy sounding guy, Onkar.

'Is it a race? Is it a competition? Should I view them as allies or enemies?' Adrian sighed and dropped the thought, planning to think about it later.

The lack of information was too much to make any valid theories.

However, for the first time, he spoke up and the talent window began to type.

"I guess everyone here caught zombies first? Are they also in large numbers around you all?"

As he said, the words began to write on the textbox.

Since there was no auto send, Adrian had to click the send button on the window.

He wondered if he could use a holographic keyboard to text, but he didn't manage to find any way to summon it.

[[ Evangeline: YES! They are scratching my shield! ]]

'Then why the fuck are you here chatting?' Adrian thought, but chose to stay silent.

[[ Onkar: Yea, they must have smelled the good shit in here as a few got triggered by me. Though, in the hindsight, it was my fault trynna get the weed that was too close to the shield border. ]]

[[ Cynthia: Yep. ]]

Adrian hummed when he saw that most of the answers were affirmative.

Well that was only natural since they were all in the same region, though he didn't know how big the region was.

After thinking a while, he spoke again.

[[ Adrian: Hmm, I also caught one, but I am confused since it didn't give me any exp, do any of you know the way to earn exp? ]]

[[ Durren: Yep, unlock the extraction altar and use your zombie in it, you will gain lots of exp. ]]

[[ Shawn: Did you try that method yet? ]]

[[ Durren: Not yet, but I am pretty sure that it works. You can trust the intel. ]]

[[ Cynthia: Intel of who? Your computer chip? ]]

[[ Durren: Yep, she's reliable. ]]

Adrian sighed, turns out everyone else were just as clueless as he was.

Though he was surprised at the progress of other people, he thought that he was fast, considering he was using every resource as optimally as possible, and didn't waste much time.

But others were just as fast, if not faster? Was it luck?

Adrian doubted so.

He had a guess that maybe only the best and intelligent people were chosen for this transmigration? But why? Why were they here?

It couldn't just be to curb the planet's corruption. right?

Whoever was behind this whole scenario, probably had enough strength to do this task in a much more efficient way, then why choose some weak 'talentless' humans?

Once again, he sighed as he realized he had no way to gain the answers, as the AI was never going to tell him.

Adrian had finished counting the wooden chips by now, which were a total of 234, so he removed the 34 from the pile and moved the 200 right above the centermost tile.

[ Fabrication Grid ]

[ Selected Recipe - Energy Chips (Junk) x100 ]

// Please put the required ingredients inside the slot. //

// Ingredients: 200 Wooden Chips + 1L Energy-infused water //

// Use the Energy-infused water directly from the tank? //

// Y / N //

Adrian selected the Y and as before, the centermost tile got sucked into darkness, and all the wooden chips fell in.

The '200 wooden chips' ingredient which was written in red, turned into green and a timer appeared.

[ Crafting Time - 3 minutes 10 seconds. ]

'Ah well…' Adrian sighed and picked up the small pile of dirty wooden chips, carrying them to the tap outside of his control room.

"Keep up the good work, Farzom." Adrian nodded at the zombie, who was no longer dripping fresh blood, but the rotten look was still there.

Farzom kept snapping the branches at the same pace.

Being outside again, Adrian took a deep breath of the fresh and delicious air of this world.

A small puddle had formed under the tap, causing nearby soil to turn slightly muddy.

But thinking about the 1kg wet soil requirement of the farming pot, this muddy soil wasn't a bad thing.

Though Adrian had no way of carrying this much soil inside the control room…

A groan escaped his lips when he figured a way, but it was an unpleasant way.

With an annoyed expression, he began undressing his shirt and lowered it on the dry ground.

It was a black coloured tshirt, printed in a cool looking red eye, a powerful ocular ability from one of his favourite anime.

But alas, its fate was to be used to transport mud now…

Author's Note: I feel as if I am not making the pacing fast enough, I know that by the time I get viewers who actually comment, I might have written a few more chapters, but still I would like to ask for your opinions.

If you guys tell me if the pacing is good, or if I should make it faster, I will keep that in mind when writing the next chapters.

I hope I get the readers who comment soon, so I can get rid of this worry faster.

But I hope you like the story!
