Chapter 7 - Day Seven: The Time Blur

Survival Log for the world I have ended up in. For the record my Earth name is Ellery Kingston. My ID number is 888-3 for all Expeditionary Forces of Earth. As of July 18 of 2096 I have successfully entered a new world. As per the rules of the EFE I am writing daily logs based on my experiences and observations in this new world. With the introduction to my logs done I shall start.

Survival Log Day Seven

I began my day by grabbing some breakfast and finishing it on the way to the arcaneaum. When I got there I began my preparations for success. The first thing I need to get was support magic. There simply wasn't enough time in the day for my plans so I had to make full use of what I had. I hunted through the restoration magics for what I needed. I found multiple spells that would allow me to stay fully cognizant while only having 20 hours of sleep a week. That would give me 148 hours every week to learn.

A few more restoration and alteration spells would allow me to comfortably sustain myself and clean myself of waste. It took me a few hours to get them all down before I cast them. I continued to work on spells before I found something in the enchantment section called movement enchanting. I found it was someone's attempt at replicating Dwemer automata. The basics were there, small but powerful rotary motors, metal muscles, a power core with a greater soul gem. All it was missing for an automata was the brain. I already knew how to solve this problem however.

I found from Calcelmo's studies that all Dwemer automatons had a basic mind made by a runic matrix connected to the soul gem powering them. I had borrowed a copy of his studies for an indefinite time so all I'd have to do is create the magic robot. I spent a few hours drawing up schematic and diagrams for the robot before I got distracted by alteration. I tested the flesh spells multiple times before I attempted to transmute a piece of paper into iron.

The transmute spell seemed to be heavily guarded but with what I'd found on it here and yesterday in Tolfdirs stuff I could try it. My attempt at the spell brought some success as the paper became iron dust and made a small mess. A flick of sparks and I yanked the dust into a small cloud I sent away before the orc librarian could find my mess. I left the Arcanaeum and found a stone in the courtyard. I then transmuted it and many others multiple times before I finally got the product I wanted. Many of my stones had practically blown up but it simply allowed for restoration practice.

The product I got at the end was the pieces I needed to construct my robot. I sat down in the magically perfect grass and started inscribing the runes and enchantments. A few hours passed as I worked an I noticed a few people watching. It didn't matter to me so I continued. When I was finally down I pulled out the two soul gems I'd prepared. A filled grand soul gem for the enchantments and a filled greater soul gem for the power source and brain.

The grand soul gem crumbled to dust and light as I applied it to the enchantments and it seemingly got sucked in. As the enchantments activated a small hole opened in the top of the robots body and I inserted the greater soul gem. The small ball then completely shut and vibrated a bit then let out a series of dings. Suddenly one of the plates of the metal ball opened and a ball on an arm popped out with the plate looking like some kind of eye brow for the magical eye.

It looked around a bit then locked onto me. I had added a rune into the matrix that would allow it to recognize me as its creator and master. I then spoke a command "Activate fully and run diagnostics." The little robot let out a humming noise and eight legs popped out much like the eye. Two more eyes revealed themselves with a complicated arm unfolding and spinning around the body.

It let out lots of noises as it tested its body before locking an eye back on me and giving an affirmative ding. I nodded and gave a command "Locate a stone matching your weight and carry the stone to right in front of me." Its eyes began looking around as built in clairvoyance runes activated. It found a rock around its weight and used its manipulator arm to pull it from the ground and roll it to me. When it finally got the rock to me I spoke "Good job Hexleg 01, enter rest mode now." The small bot sounded a ding and pulled back into a ball.

With my project done and the sun setting I grabbed some books on illusion and made myself a table and chair in the courtyard. I would only need to sleep a few days from now so I continued to read. I'd only learned clairvoyance so far so I needed to catch illusion up with the rest of my knowledge. Fury was first and the easiest as I simply had to make someone incredibly mad. I tested it on a flame atronach and had to destroy it multiple times as it would practically lose its mind and attempt to burn everything. Courage wasn't much different from fury as it reinforced the target's abilities and their determination. I then tested fear on a contoured wolf familiar, then practiced fury, fear, and calm on it. Muffle was easy to test as I attempted to cause enough noise in the hall of attainment with it effecting me.

Invisibility was incredibly difficult but I got it down by morning. With those spells learned I returned the books and began looking for the higher level destruction spells, all while writing this log.

Thus concludes my day seven survival log for this world.
