Day two of summer break was not as eventful as day one which all of us were thankful for but it was the beginning of our next steps of training. Adam and I were now in a complete understanding of the severity of our situation and why the sudden armor. I had never asked nor seen them need to use the armor before Adam and I were given out so it's easy to assume the girls already had the obsidian armor upon entering the academy.
Ghaston had a plan for each of us to teach us something new. That plan for me changed after day one and our wisp's interaction. Mr Jackson now was working directly with me to work on my agility as that was the only thing they could think of that they could teach me and have me work on. It was a makeshift plan made at the last minute so I can't blame them for having better plans for the others than me.
Ghaston's plan for Abby was teaching her a saber technique that required her to learn fifty steps to create a momentum movement that would make her flow in a dance of lethal precision. His plan didn't involve Lacy but Lacy didn't want to feel left out and soon learned the steps and added attacks to where she felt were the weak points or the escape paths. In those two weeks the two created their own technique unique to them that created a whirlwind of death.
Ghaston's plan with Maddy had her meditating next to life crystals that were full of life energy. Then every half hour she would get up and heal all of us and expel her magic in life barriers till she was worn out and then went back to meditating. He was trying to expand her mana pool through means of a method he came across at a temple full of elemental beast masters who had immense mana pools for beast masters. They had taught him this technique and he was now teaching his cousin's daughters.
Ghaston's plan with Adam over the two weeks was similar to Abby and was a sword technique for katanas. The sword technique was the most common but also the most effective katana sword technique that would have been a mandatory technique in our fourth year for Adam to learn given he owns a katana. Ghaston sped this up to a two week course over summer break.
Mr Jackson had me on the constant dodging attacks from multiple sources with Wispy being told strictly not to interfere unless it was a fatal hit but that fatal hit would never come as it was training gear being used. The attacks would intensify as I got better where I could barely go five seconds on the first day before being hit to last a half hour on the last day. I also fell in love with the workout and asked if Mr Jackson could make this a daily thing at the academy going forward. He chuckled and told me that was the point of all of this.
On the last day of summer break we all took a break from the training to relax in the lush garden and to discuss the upcoming school year. Ghaston started with grabbing a handful of berries from a particular tree and took one for himself and passed the rest out to us to take one. Only needed one as it suddenly made your mind remember anything in your past clearly for an hour.
"I was in my tenth year at Ghostrun Academy when Mr. Garcia sent me on a quest to infiltrate a cult. This cult has many names as it takes on different entities but always has the same theme which is that it worships the deity Oriseye. At the time this cult was called The Chosen and there were many in this cult that believed that they truly were the chosen ones.
Infiltrating this cult was simple, just be arrogant and they love you. They had a base which was a castle that had been abandoned due to the beasts in the area that they could keep at bay for the most part with their numbers. They always had to have twenty beast masters in the base or all would have to leave as it was impossible to hold off with anything less. In a way it was an ideal place to have a cult but also required you to keep adding more as the environment was always chipping away.
We were all summoned into the main hall one day when they told us of the prophecy written in their bible. The prophecy foretold of two granddaughters born at the same time and both of the king's bloodline will bring about the end of our world. It was their duty, mission, sole purpose to end the lives of these two girls.
I believe there were over a hundred beast masters in that castle that night. I thought I had eradicated the problem but then two weeks ago happened and I must implore all of you to be on your guard at all times. There is no such thing as being a coward and fleeing to see another day as well as if they say they will kill you don't hold back any of you!" Ghaston's sincerity was amplified by the berries and I could feel the emotion in his words like they were my own emotions.
"I thought you have a light wisp?" I was completely confused on how he took out over a hundred beast masters with just a light wisp, was the common knowledge of wisps being weak just a myth? I never even contemplated that he would be a dual or triple beast master.
Instead of answering me verbally a lion appeared and his hair suddenly was significantly shorter than before and I realized he had a mane. Then an eagle appeared from behind Ghaston and landed on top of the lion. The realization I was meeting my first triple beast master just hit me as Ghaston's facial features were now completely different than before as the beasts were no longer melded into him.
"How did you take out a hundred beast masters at once?" Adam eagerly asked Ghaston to go into detail about the fight. The middle aged man gave a great laugh that echoed in the massive eating hall. "If I tell you that I would have to kill you as well!" Which put a disappointed look on Adam's face that almost pained Ghaston.
"I'm just messing with you, my wisp produces an attack that can blind anyone who sees the attack for five seconds. It's similar to blind but it's an area of effect spell that as a unit we have timed to close our eyes when it happens then take out all those blinded. The room of people gathered to listen to a speech was not expecting to be under attack till they were all blinded by the first attack. We have learned the timing so that the moment the individuals gain their sight back my wisp will cast the spell again it's called Flash." Gaston explained his tactic that sounded to be wild.
I imagined a strobe light effect where the people were all standing there one minute and the next all lying dead. It would take a while to get through a hundred people no matter what you were doing which is also why he had to do it multiple times every five seconds. Adam was pondering similar scenarios and wanted to be able to do it himself. Instead of asking Ghaston, Adam looked at me, "You know how to use this flash spell so we can do it in the arena or even out in the field?"
"I know the blind spell but didn't learn the flash spell according to Wispy" I updated Adam's thought process. "So that is only one target at a time?" Adam asked, keeping the train of thought going. "Yeah that is my understanding, it was what the twin light cheetah chick did to us, her two cheetahs could blind two targets one for each."
"That settles it, we will spend the next coming weeks learning Flash for you. At least I now know of something to teach you." Ghaston said with a sigh of relief.
"Of course you have something to teach me, I'm not even eleven yet!" I exclaimed to the laughter of everyone else.
