"Abby, you and Mr Jackson keep an eye on Maddy at all times. Jordan and Adam you are with me. We will be the main force if I ever yell flash close your eyes or you will be blinded for five seconds understood?" Ghaston gave us final instructions.
We had sneaked up to the door on the north side of the castle that we were told would be unlocked and unbarred. So far no one had seen us or alerted anyone of our presence that we could tell. There were noises coming from the south as the military did what they said they would do.
Entering the door led to the open courtyard of the castle and we could see that all of the attention was to the south. There were several beast masters that were already injured and being pulled off the wall and being dragged to the infirmary. If there were two hundred beast masters in this castle the majority were currently engaged on the southern rampart of the castle.
"Adam with me, Jordan clear that building" Ghaston commanded quietly. I opened the door and swept the room with my eyes seeing no movement or anyone in the building. It was just a storage building full of food and other items for storage. "Clear" I called out to them in a pushed whisper.
Adam and Ghaston had moved on to the next building which Adam opened the door as Ghaston kept his eyes on the beast masters engaged to the south. I caught up to them as Adam came out and said "Clear" in a hushed voice. The main castle was next and it would take all of us to enter to search.
When we entered Mr Jackson and Maddy went to the left Abby and Adam to the right then Ghaston and myself up the middle. We kept moving room to room checking to see if anyone was there, desperately hoping the next room was the one that Travis and Joey were being held in.
We cleared the first floor as all of us met in the back of the castle and proceeded to go up a floor and do the same. The castle had three floors and all of them were empty. We made our way back to the first floor trying to figure out where the dungeon was located as it was the only place left for us to look.
I had felt a power when we first got into the castle and now was feeling it again when we were back on the first floor. Adam said it to the team that he felt a power get more intense when they got close to the middle of their first floor patrol. We all proceeded that way and I could feel it now.
Ghaston and Mr Jackson went first as we discovered the door that led to the dungeon below. Maddy and Abby were in the middle with Adam and I behind. I basically walked backwards as something felt off the entire time we descended. Adam felt the same as he expressed it "something is wrong about this place!"
Ghaston felt the same thing but proceeded to take cautious steps. The long winding steps led to another set of doors that Mr Jackson opened and Ghaston entered with extreme caution. The door opened and we all could feel the power that was emanating from the dungeon.
In the corner of the immense dungeon was a caged wyvern that had to be four times the size of Dante. We all proceeded cautiously towards the wyvern as it was the only presence in the dungeon. All of us were on edge as none of it was making sense to us.
"I apologize for the lies but I needed you to free me. I felt the awakening of your elemental wisp and needed to meet you Jordan Kane. My child has told me a great deal about you and I felt it was time for us to meet." The great wyvern spoke to us which shocked all of us except for Adam.
The reason Adam wasn't shocked was that Dante was the child this great wyvern was speaking about. Dante had told Adam when we landed that we would be finding his ancestor here. While we were in the vicinity to the great wyvern Dante was able to communicate to the wyvern about them.
What was really confusing was the fact that he said sorry for all the lies. What lies he was referring to, the thought caused me to miss what was said next but Ghaston was asking the wyvern questions. Specifically where Travis and Joey were located as his informant had told him specifically that they were here.
"That was the lie, I was told about your situation after I felt the awakening and have been searching for you. I convinced your informant against his will to lie to you as you mortals are so easy to break and control. I have been locked up here for a few centuries and haven't cared to break free till now." The great wyvern continued.
"Dante is my grandchild and I wish to impart a power only us wyvern can pass to our kin. Then if you would let me meet your wisp as it's been centuries since I fused with an elemental wisp." The wyvern explained.
Adam was already swinging at the lock on the cage and that did nothing. "Actually need your wisp to open this up! It's actually a simple thing really as it's just cast the spell Blind on it. I hope your wisp can do that!"
Wispy popped out of my chest while the great wyvern made a squeal noise like it was a little girl. That made me wonder if the wyvern was a female or male. There was a flash of light on the lock and suddenly it fell to the ground completely unlocked.
There were lots of weird things that happened all in a moment's time. The lock hitting the floor caused barriers that we didn't see to be broken. The bars that were visible suddenly disappeared and the entire cage was suddenly gone. Then what was even wilder was the fact that the wyvern literally started to grow in size the moment the cage was broken.
Dante who had lunged forward to cuddle with his ancestor was so small it was comical. The great wyvern looked down at its grandchild realizing it was a double headed variant that was very rare. Its eyes then narrowed on Adam, "Dante is a double headed child, he is prophesied to bring the end of days."
"Great now we just need to find my prophecy that says that all of yours are wrong!" I bursted out my frustration with hearing yet another end of days prophecy about my friends.
"You're in that prophecy youngling. An elemental wisp hasn't been fused in several hundred years, trust me I know when each happens. Humans can't feel it but when you fuse with a beast there is a shockwave sent out into the universe proclaiming your fusion.
We have grown accustomed to feeling the ceremony of implementation and many waves being sent proclaiming your fusions but I was shocked to feel you two last year. Now to see you two are together says that we are indeed in end times.
The only thing missing is two grandchildren of the king being born of the same sex and same day but of different parents." That caused everyone to stop in their tracks. The wyvern felt the change of atmosphere from that statement and looked at the two females in the group.
"Don't tell me you two are the grandchildren of the king?" The two girls sheepishly nodded informing the massive beast of their predicament. All of this didn't tell us where Joey and Travis were, which was still a huge issue.
