When we were charged with clearing out this abandoned castle of all of its inhabitants we didn't know we would get the help of a great wyvern. The cage being removed and the great wyvern being able to grow to its full size broke the ceiling above him with ease.
The castle being old and mostly wood didn't stand a chance as the wyvern shot into the sky at a great speed. When it lifted above the castle the explosion caught everyone's attention. The wyvern seeing the battle below looked at us as saw that Mr Jackson was wearing the same uniform as the invading forces.
The wyvern then shot forward toward the ramparts and proceeded to burn all of the beast masters off the top of the wall. His massive purple arcane flame engulfed the entire top of the wall and it flew the length of the wall clearing out all of the beast masters unfortunately holding their positions on top of the wall.
A great cheer came from the military beast master that was trying to break through the defenses. The wyvern, seeing that they could help out if the castle door was gone as it landed and proceeded to blow the door off its frames with a massive arcane flame constantly bombarded the door till its eventual disintegration.
The great wyvern then burst through the doorway and attacked the few beast masters that had been waiting for the doors to open as they were melee warriors and couldn't do anything on the walls. The great wyvern ate a few of the beast masters as I would imagine it had to be hungry being held for a few centuries as it stated.
None of us had to help as we made it out of the building and the battle was mostly over. The few beast masters not disposed of were being overwhelmed and soon would fall. When it all settled down the great wyvern approached us.
"I would like to protect you so please hop on my back and I will take you where you need to go and then set up my own nest. I am Xelo, the first of the arcane wyverns." The great wyvern was looking at me when he said this which threw me completely off guard.
Mr Jackson had already left to get the gryphons and when he returned with them he was shocked to see me already on Xelo's back. I helped Maddy get up as well as she wanted to go for a ride. Suddenly Mr Jackson had a bunch of gryphons with no riders.
Xelo let out a great roar which at first we thought was him just showing off but then the two gryphons with no riders took flight back towards the academy. Mr Jackson at first tried to get the gryphons to come back but realized they were flying in the right direction so he jumped on his own to follow.
Xelo took off into the air with Maddy and I holding on as he didn't have a mount for us to be attached to him magically. While flying Xelo started talking to us through telepathy that shocked both of us. Even Maddy was asking me if I was hearing him in my head.
'While you're riding on top of me why don't let your wisp fuse with me.' Xelo asked. I had no idea how to do that but Wispy apparently responded by fusing with him and I could hear a simple 'Thank you' from Xelo.
At first it felt like I was being drained of all of my energy. Granted I was just sitting on top of a wyvern but it really was a similar feeling to when Wispy was defending me from all of those attacks. Wispy wasn't saying anything so I figured it was all good but to be honest I was struggling to keep my consciousness. Maddy even could sense I was losing my senses and held me tighter, not sure if she whispered or if it was because we were flying and the wind was dampening her voice. "You're going to be fine, don't look down, just concentrate on my voice."
She misread my symptom but I appreciated the words of encouragement as well as the fact I could feel her casting life mend on me. 'You two are incredible, a life faery and an elemental wisp, I just love how everyone will think less of you two and yet together you two are simply unstoppable.' Xelo commented on what was happening. It seemed that he could feel me being healed through the connection of Wispy.
'I am not looked down upon!' Maddy interjected not realizing Xelo was speaking in general terms but also times might be different than what Xelo was used to since it seemed that Xelo was ancient.
'Forgive me your majesty, I only meant that life faeries throughout time have always been considered small. I for one love them and appreciate all the different fae around the world. I only refer to humans that I have interacted with that are fused with the fae, they used to be looked down on as lesser beings. The truth is that Wispy here and your fae can create an unimpregnable defense.
Elemental wisps have been hunted to extinction because of their ability to learn from other beasts and especially other wisps. The fae and elemental wisp can create a bond that both enhances each other but also combines their mana pool, their spell power, their mana regeneration rate all increase to incalculable magnitudes.
This life faery bonded with Wispy would be able to heal entire battlefields instantly. Imagine an aura that extends out hundreds of yards and all of your allies are healed while in it. I have witnessed farmers defend off platinum beasts because they had the healing aura on them. Every attack from the beast would be healed so quickly the beast thought they were super human.
Answer this for me to yourselves if you need to but the first time you saw the other did it feel like an instant attraction?' Xelo's question hit home really hard. I still can remember that first moment seeing her having no idea why I found her to be the most beautiful being in existence. Now I am being told that I had no choice in the matter, that I was destined to fall completely head over heels for this one person because of their fusion with a particular beast.
A part of me felt sick to my stomach that I had no say over who I liked or if I liked them. The attraction to Maddy was undeniable but all the boys and even some of the girls talked about how beautiful she was so it's not like I am crazy to instantly be attracted to her. But to put it my beast made me feel that made it sound so enslaving.
'He only pointed out the natural affinity you two have for each other is all he was pointing out, I hatched because of you so Maddy was already in your wheel house.' Wispy suddenly spoke up as he could read my thoughts. What shocked me more was that Xelo could hear Wispy say that to me.
'As he said, beasts that hatch during the ceremony of implementation that you go through on your tenth cycle only show based on the individual. There are obviously limitations to that but having read your combined thoughts now I can see that Wispy here was a legacy egg meaning it was only going to ever be an elemental wisp and waiting for you. Your desire to be great is the only way to summon an elemental wisp to its egg.' Xelo informed us. Suddenly having an ancient wyvern to talk to was a wealth of knowledge I hadn't expected to come across.
