Arriving back at school to start the year was a fun memory of the previous year. I wish I could go back and be less nervous and just enjoy the moment as it changes your life forever more than any other moment in one's life. The fact that now I could watch everyone get their new pet as the first year beast masters for Ghostrun Academy would have their Ceremony of Implementation on the first day.
While we watched as the nervous nine to ten year olds cracked their eggs a weird feeling came over me like I was being intently watched. I scanned the room but never made eye contact with anyone but the sensation stayed with me throughout the ceremony. The one thing was that we hadn't seen or ran into Joey and Travis. I know I missed them and I am sure the rest did as well.
When the ceremony was over we were dismissed to enjoy dinner. The four of us grabbed our food and headed to an empty table still not finding Travis and Joey. Adam and I were wondering if we were going to be roommates with them then we figured they must be in the room already and waiting for us to show up. First we were going to enjoy our meals.
Throughout the meal I kept feeling that someone was staring at me and once again I couldn't figure out who but the feeling was bothering me. The meal I ate was a new dish that the school ordered and labeled it as arcane energy meat. Adam and I each grabbed the biggest pieces they had portioned out as we were eager to try the new food.
'This food is actually increasing all of your spells from iron to bronze and so on. Oh and barrage is silver as a base spell and it's why it's so powerful for you.' Wispy informed me as I was chewing on the delicious meat. The shake I was drinking was increasing my mana pool, the food increasing my spell power. I just needed to grow my body so I could handle the higher ranks.
My eyes were suddenly covered from behind and I had no idea what was going on. A group of classmates started singing "Happy Birthday" as if they knew it was this whole time. I was shocked that anyone knew my birthday was the same day of the ceremony of implementation. It was nice to have the birthday sung to me, then I looked at Adam who hadn't been sung to.
"Now everyone sings for Adam! Happy Birthday…" The group resang the song this time for Adam who was irritated that I pointed out that it was his as well. No idea who or how anyone knew our birthdays were that day but it was a cool experience to have so many people sing happy birthday to you when it usually was just your two parents.
We headed to our room afterwards saying goodnight to the girls and still no Joey or Travis. We even asked if our roommates had changed and we were told that it was the same as last year for the entire grade other than the already known changes requested last year. We never asked for them to move and I doubt they asked to move so we were confused on why we were alone.
We went to bed with them not in our room which was quite confusing. The next morning I woke up to an empty half of the room. Breakfast Abby and Maddy joined us inquiring the whereabouts of the boys and we informed them of the lack of knowledge from anyone.
We resumed going back to class however the four of us only did the morning classes and those changed each day. It made it quite confusing as we would miss a couple days of a class then be in the middle of a section when we would attend the class. If I didn't have Wispy I would have been upset about not having consistency.
The afternoons were spent working with Ghaston and Mr Jackson as they became our personal tutors. Ghaston did his best to explain flash to me and I tried many times to get it but only could blind for half a second not a full standard two seconds at minimum.
The showing up to classes in the morning started to get noticed by others as they would never see us after lunch. Then suddenly we would be at dinner and then people would see Adam and I battling in the arena as we were hoping they would allow for multiple teams again. The decision was out of our hands but we weren't going to leave it to chance.
Maddy and Abby started attending our matches in the arena till Abby got the itch to start battling solo. Adam had been trying to get her to do it but she felt it wasn't worth her time. Our classmates were not happy when she started to fight solos as she was feared by everyone.
Word had gotten around that Maddy and Abby were in fact the princesses of the Kilthred Kingdom. So there was a mix of fear because they wouldn't want to bring upon the wrath of the royal crown on them, then there was the fear that she had her grandfather's battle prowess.
The obsidian armor had now been synonymous with team Arcanum so when one of them showed up to solo battle there were a number of classmates that would forfeit seeing the armor alone. Seeing the lightning wolf next to the obsidian armor and half of the forfeits would apologize to her as if they had offended her.
This became the new standard for us but we were still worried about what happened to our two friends that still hadn't shown up to school. Three weeks into school the four of us were summoned to Mr G's office.
"We found Joey and Travis…"
