Chapter 23 - 23

Tsuna pushed Hayato away from his leg, growing tired of the idiot clinging to him.

"Okay, I get it. Just stop fucking crying."

Tsuna spoke out as he backed away from the clearly insane idiot. At his words the tears running down Hayato's face increased, and there was a sparkle in his eyes as he looked at Tsuna.

He then rubbed at his eyes to cover the tears.

"Boss is so kind."

Hayato muttered out, and Tsuna felt a shiver run down his spine. He again took a step away from Hayato. The boy in question did not notice as he was still wiping the tears away from his face.

Did Tsuna break the guy? This was too drastic of a change. Sure, he could tell Hayato had conflicted feelings about fighting him, but it was not that strong.

"Please make me your right-hand man, Boss!"

Hayato spoke out after he collected himself, slamming his head into the ground to display his loyalty.

Tsuna stared blankly at him.

"No."

Tsuna let out flatly. His words almost seemed to physically hurt the guy. He stared at him with big watery eyes.

Tsuna looked away from that and rubbed at his temple.

"A position like that is not something you just get by asking. That is something you have to earn."

Tsuna offered after a moment. The sheer dejection on Hayato's face was getting to him. He doubted he would make the boy his right-hand man, but he just did not want to deal with this right now.

Hayato took in his words and slapped his own face harshly.

"Of course. I apologize for overstepping, Boss. I will prove my loyalty and my talent!"

Hayato spoke out with glee that bordered on obsession.

Tsuna was tempted to sigh at that but was not sure how the idiot would handle it.

"Just get back to class. I need some time to think."

Tsuna ordered while dismissing him with a wave. Hayato hesitated. The conflict on his face was clear.

"The Boss should not be alone. What if someone tries to assassinate you?"

Hayato eventually spat out, again slamming his head into the ground to show he was sorry about not following his order but wanting to show his loyalty still.

Tsuna felt his lips twitch.

"If I can't handle the threat on my life, I doubt you being here is going to help."

He commented lightly, rolling his eyes despite Hayato not being able to see that. Again Hayato stiffened but he did not raise his head from his current position.

"Even if I can't beat the enemy, Boss, I can still throw my body between you and their attacks. If I manage to stop a single blow for you, then I did my purpose."

Tsuna blinked and clicked his tongue. This guy really was an idiot, and his obsession with him marked him as a zealot.

"I'm not exactly alone."

He spoke out slowly, selecting the bond between him and Luci and summoning her to his side. Again space cracked as Luci stepped through the tunnel. She took one look at the kneeling Hayato who finally raised his head and her master before chuckling.

"This is Luci. She is a whole lot stronger than you, and she has been watching this entire time."

Tsuna lied his ass off. He just wanted the idiot to go away for a little bit. Luci gave him an amused smile and turned back toward Hayato with a cocky smirk.

Hayato looked completely and utterly devastated at Luci. Again he looked like a kicked puppy.

"Boss I—" Hayato started before Luci interrupted.

"Are you so ignorant as to ignore the orders of your Master?"

She asked coldly, her eyes boring into Hayato with an intensity that the young boy could not handle.

Hayato lowered his head and gritted his teeth before standing up and bowing low in Tsuna's direction.

"Of course not. I'll head back to class, Boss," Hayato spoke out quietly.

He gave Tsuna a bright smile before turning toward Luci and glaring at her before leaving in dejection.

Tsuna finally relaxed. He was not sure how to handle that guy. His shift really was too fucking fast.

"Did you really have to call me away from my mission to deal with the puppy, Master?"

Luci asked with a roll of her eyes.

Tsuna rubbed at his neck awkwardly.

"Probably not my best move. Did I interrupt something important?"

Tsuna asked after a moment of silence between them. Luci let out a hum before shrugging.

"Not really. Most of the dominos had been set, and I can just teleport back after this. You will be happy to know that Nagi's parents have accepted a rather lucrative deal to move across the country for a promising career. Of course, it was recommended that their daughter stay here as the positions available to them are high-intensity and it was unlikely they would have time to care for her. The company offered care in this city."

Luci explained her little plot, and Tsuna nodded along.

He had no idea how she managed to start a company and get enough funds to move figures like Nagi's parents around like chess pieces, but she was apparently the greatest CEO hell had ever seen.

He could see the care her company was offering was obviously his own home.

"Good. Thank you, Luci."

Tsuna commented after a moment. Looking at the devil and hesitating before letting some tension bleed from him. She blinked at his thanks and smiled slyly at him.

"Perhaps this one can ask for a reward from her Master?"

She asked with a teasing lilt. Tsuna raised an eyebrow at her and gave her a good long look before nodding slowly.

"I suppose. What is it you want?"

He had no idea what she would want, but he would try to accomplish it unless she wanted something absurd.

She smiled sharply at him for a moment, her aura almost crashing into him.

"The thing I want…"

She spoke out slowly, a glint appearing in her eyes, and Tsuna frowned at the feeling coming off of her.

"Is for Master to make me chocolate pancakes."

She finished simply. The aura faded and the serious air disappeared. Tsuna blinked and looked at her in confusion.

"Pancakes? You have plenty of funds. Can't you just buy pancakes if you want them? I'm not even a good cook," Tsuna spoke out after a moment.

Luci shook her head in disappointment and gave him puppy-dog eyes.

"Of course I could. But it would not be the same as my Master personally making pancakes for me."

She let out dramatically as she clutched at her chest, staring at him with big wide begging eyes. Tsuna rolled his eyes.

"Fine. You get your reward for good work."

Tsuna let out with a huff. Luci pumped her hand in victory and gave him a cheeky grin.

He ignored the devil for now and took out the ticket he got from Hayato, ripping the first bronze.

[Meal]

Uncommon Ability

Allows you to enhance the properties of the food you cook, making them more nutritious and amplifying the properties the ingredients already had while enhancing their taste proportional to how well you cooked the dish.

He stared blankly at what he rolled for a moment, then turned mechanically toward Luci. Did she affect the Gacha? She demanded pancakes made by him one moment and the next moment he got an ability associated with cooking.

She just looked at him innocently, and the voice in his head was not offering anything suspicious, but it really was too strange.

Well, at least he had three ability slots now.

He ripped the next ticket.

[Blessing of Hestia]

Rare Trait

You are a child blessed by Hestia, the goddess of Hearth. You have resistance to all mental effects and negative ailments. Your body is way healthier, and people feel more comfortable around you due to the natural aura you have around you.

He looked at that Trait for a moment before the flames under his skin started to boil, swelling at a speed he did not think possible. The Sky nearly doubled in size, and it felt like it was so much easier to meld the various Flames he would acquire.

The body that was nearly broken from how he pushed it was recovering rapidly, and the hurt and hate he was feeling toward his Seal lessened; not forgotten, but it no longer felt so raw. It no longer felt like something that dominated him.

Besides that he felt a small white flame settle in his chest that hummed softly. It was not under his direction but it appeared to be watching him with fondness.

He was fairly certain that was the Sacred Flame and it housed fucking Hesita herself. Or at least a part of her.

Finally he felt skills in cooking shoved into him, and once more he stood blankly looking at Luci.

Hestia, the guardian and holder of the Sacred Flame, ruler over the hearth, home, and domestic life. His flames swelled from her domain of the hearth, his skills in cooking became supernatural under her blessing, and the mental strain he was feeling eased.

It was the perfect blessing for him but… why was it cooking again?

How powerful was Luci in which her demand for pancakes was met with the world bending to her whims!? He gave her a nervous look, and she seemed really confused about the rapid shift in his emotions.

He looked at her one final time before ripping his last ticket.

[Perfector]

Uncommon Item

Akame ga Kill - A pair of gloves that gives their user almost perfect dexterity and speed for their fingers and hands, allowing them to move with extreme speed and precision beyond the realm of human speeds.

He took a deep breath and stepped away from Luci as a pair of gloves appeared in front of him. It was not a thing associated with cooking, but it would boost the effect of anything requiring dexterity in the hands… like fucking cooking.

He put on the gloves mechanically.

"Master?"

She questioned with a tilt of her head. Tsuna grunted and looked away from her.

"You are going to get your pancakes… Can you hope my next roll makes me the strongest in the world?"

He asked hesitantly. Everything inside him told him she had nothing to do with this, and she had no idea what was causing him such confusion, but she just gave him an amused look.

"I suppose so, but those pancakes better be good, Master."

She commented lightly, clearly not taking this seriously.

He nodded lightly. Now he must make the most perfect pancakes in the world. It was his path to ultimate power.
