Marcus, the biggest boss of resident evil 0, met his end here. This story teaches us not to write our weaknesses in a diary and scatter them everywhere.
A high-explosive round shattered the Leech Queen's core. As Asa was reloading, he suddenly felt a gust of wind from behind.
"Pat!"
Jill Valentine lightly patted Asa on the shoulder.
"Is it over?"
"It's over. He was Dr. Marcus; I'm sure you already know that."
"After his resurrection, Marcus wanted to take revenge on the Umbrella Corporation, so he spread the T-Virus throughout the Training Facility, causing the entire base to mutate."
"But the spread of the T-Virus ultimately led to the deaths of many tourists who came here to visit."
Jill Valentine sighed with emotion. The "turning around and smiling" zombie she first encountered had left an indelible impression on her; thinking back now, she still felt a lingering fear.
"Well, now that the culprit is dead, Lang, what are your plans? Do you need me to take you home?"
"To your home? Is your place big?"
"My place is quite big..."
Jill Valentine's voice trailed off. Her intuition told her that Asa words seemed to be flirting with her.
"Forget it, you two can actually head back now."
Shaking his head, Asa handed over the B.O.W. reports, Marcus's diary, and the camera to Jill Valentine.
Jill Valentine suddenly grew anxious. There was only one way back—up. Was Asa planning to stay here?
"What are you planning to do? Aren't you going to expose Umbrella's evil deeds?"
"I have more important things to do, and this also involves Umbrella Corporation."
Jill Valentine looked into Asa eyes and, confirming he was serious, finally nodded.
"Alright."
"Take these."
After some thought, since Wesker knew the identities of the two who broke into the Training Facility—and they had been dragged into this by him—Asa decided to give them some life-saving items.
"Max-Heal Type I. Take a dose when you're injured, and it'll guarantee you're as fit as a fiddle."
Asa took out four small cylindrical needle-less injectors and handed them to Jill Valentine and Barry.
Inhalable Nanobot Swarm Medicine. Once the nanobots enter the bloodstream, they target and repair damaged muscles, blood vessels, and nerve tissue, instantly closing wounds and restoring physiological functions!
Biological science in the world of 2077 was far ahead of resident evil; it just lacked the various reality-defying viruses.
"Another lab product, huh?"
Jill Valentine said, honestly accepting them.
"Also, Mr. Burton, Jill, the Umbrella Corporation won't just stand by and watch their reputation be ruined. If you have family, it's best to keep them away from the center of this conflict."
Asa hinted.
Barry's eyes flickered as he thought of his wife and daughter. He immediately made up his mind to send them to their relatives in Canada once he got back.
Jill Valentine was much simpler; she was alone and had no weaknesses.
"You too, be very careful."
Accepting Asa gift, Jill Valentine gave him a big hug at the end.
Holding the soft, fragrant beauty in his arms, it was a pity Miss Valentine was wearing her team uniform; Asa could only feel the hardness against his chest.
"Goodbye!"
After the hug, Jill Valentine didn't linger at all and turned to walk out of the room.
Barry, watching Jill Valentine's departing figure from the side, turned to see Asa with his arms open and eyes closed, as if waiting for a hug from Barry.
Barry: What does this mean?
Barry grabbed Asa right hand and gave it a firm shake.
"Goodbye, mysterious researcher kid."
With that, he also left the laboratory.
Asa watched them leave. Unlike Rebecca and Billy, who seemed to cause collapses wherever they went, the laboratory stairs and the clock tower cable car were well-preserved, so Jill Valentine and Barry could return the way they came.
At this point, even if Wesker notified Umbrella Corporation's top brass, U.S.S. units wouldn't appear for another 24 hours, so Asa didn't need to worry about their safety.
This was part of the reason he sent the two of them away.
The car was still parked by the road above the tunnel.
Of course, the main reason was that the resident evil 1 instance hadn't finished generating yet. The security personnel and researchers in the Mansion were still alive, so Asa wasn't considering having the three of them clear the underground laboratory instance directly.
Perhaps it would lead to the deaths of innocents in the laboratory?
Since transmigrating into the resident evil world, Asa had maintained an attitude: if he could save the pitiful people from the original story, he would; if not, they would just follow the plot. What did it have to do with him as a transmigrator?
Of course, for those who were truly pitiful, Asa would still try to find a way, but if it required him to risk his life... well, are we really that close?
Besides, are there really any innocents in an Umbrella Corporation laboratory?
Taking the original T-Virus strain from the freezer, Asa prepared to leave.
Time to go; there was still a cute little Tyrant waiting for him below the sewage treatment plant.
...
Sunday evening.
The dim yellow sunlight reflected off Victory Lake, dyeing the lake gold.
After exiting the sewage treatment plant, one reached Victory Lake, which nourished all of Raccoon City. To the west, a duplex villa stood quietly in the forest.
Using his Cyberoptics to zoom in, he could still see people moving around in the Mansion.
It seemed there was still some time before the virus outbreak in the laboratory.
Walking down the small path south of the sewage treatment plant, he followed the Mendes River to the main road in the northeast of the city.
In the original game's RE2 plot, Leon, Claire, and Sherry Birkin left the city via this highway at the end.
At dusk, there weren't many passing vehicles.
Asa simply walked toward the city along the highway.
With the T-Virus equipment already loaded, Asa prepared to plot for the G-Virus researched by William.
After betraying his mentor Marcus, in an accidental experiment, William injected the NE-alpha Parasite into Lisa Trevor, who was infected with the Progenitor Virus, thereby extracting the G-Virus.
Compared to the T-Virus, the G-Virus could only infect through reproductive injection besides direct injection, and it required a blood relation between the two parties.
This was why William kept chasing Sherry Birkin in RE2.
But the G-Virus had its own advantages; besides its ultra-high-speed regeneration, the G-Virus had even greater potential than the T-Virus.
It allowed the host to evolve continuously, randomly growing new limbs and flesh. It was unstable, but its potential was immense.
And Asa Virus Adaptor could perfectly discard its unstable drawbacks while retaining its evolution and high-speed regeneration!
This was why Asa didn't act against William after taking over the laboratory using the operating system.
William had worked so diligently for the G-Virus research, only for the fruit of his labor to be snatched by Asa; it was truly frustrating.
