ELARA~
I could hear the faint hum of machines close by. For a moment, I thought I was dreaming.
Everything felt heavy. My body, my eyelids, even my breathing.
A dull ache pulsed against my forehead immediately and I winced, raising a hand toward it. I felt the bandaged wrapped around my head.
"Elara!" I recalled my father's voice.
My eyes slowly opened and the bright ceiling lights nearly blinded me. It took a while to see properly again.
I raised my hand slowly, my eyes lingering on the tubes connected to it.
The memory came back in fragments.
The explosion.
The crash.
The deafening sound.
The smell of smoke.
Glass shattering everywhere.
Blood.
I shot up too quickly and pain exploded through my head.
"Easy."
The voice startled me. My eyes snapped toward the corner of the room and there she was.
Isla.
She sat on the couch beside the window, elbows resting on her knees while a cigarette remained unlit between her fingers.
