Chapter 30: Claws at the Gate
DRAVEN
The council members turned to stare at me, confusion locked on their faces. The growling grew louder, but it didn't seem like it was at the walls anymore. It seemed like it was beginning to fade into the distance, yet their voices could still be heard clearly.
High-pitched, guttural sounds that ripped through my bones.
I turned to my men, seeing the fear written plainly on their faces.
"Scared already?" I said, my voice cold. "Thought you all were supposed to be tougher than that."
Aurora spun toward the sound, her hands sparkling with faint magic crackling between her fingers as she raised them up making us aware that she was ready for war any second from now.
"That's no animal, Alpha King," she snapped, her voice sharp and pissed off. "Something's out there, and it's not playing games. It showed up right after the meeting started. Someone must have alerted them, told them what we discussed."
