DRAVEN
The door slammed shut behind me, the sound echoing through the hall.
I took a deep breath, glad to be out of that council meeting and whatever doom was brewing.
I'd always known something was coming. I'd seen it two years after breaking free from Henry's torture. Everything had been too easy, too strategic, too good. Like the goddess was finally on my side. Getting the power to control dragons came with a price—one I'd been trying to figure out.
But the last thing I expected was having to leave my territory and go seek out a being whose very existence was an insult to everything I stood for.
The Lord of Shadows.
The words tasted bitter on my tongue. Disgusting.
"Son of a bitch. He wants me to come to him. He's involved in this somehow, and he wants me crawling to his door. But that's not how this works."
I said it out loud, my voice bouncing off the stone walls. Kwan walked behind me, his footsteps heavy.
