My mouth opened and closed but no sound came out. Alec had an intense look in his eyes right now, like he really cared about what my answer was gonna be. I didn't like it, because I knew he was just forcing himself to act like this, like he… cares.
I swallowed emptily as I shook my head, forcing the lump in my throat to disappear. "Uh… I wasn't."
I was still speaking when he stepped even closer to me, right in my personal space. This time, there wasn't even space for me to breathe properly without breathing in his heady cologne scent.
"Don't try to lie to me, Seraphina." He spoke calmly and I gulped, my insides wounding up tightly almost immediately.
