Chapter 39 - Refresh the Destiny Points?

"Congratulations! The host has altered Spence's fate, causing a slight ripple in the River of Destiny. The system has gained 1 destiny point." The Transcendence System alerted Marcus in his mind.

"Mr. Foster, please be aware that there are active T-virus infected individuals inside the Hive. Infection will be extremely dangerous," Red Queen warned.

Marcus waved his hand. "Open the door!"

"Yes, Mr. Foster." Red Queen opened the door directly, without needing the assault team to force it open.

The team followed silently behind, exchanging glances, both seeing astonishment in each other's eyes.

"Who exactly is this guy? Isn't he supposed to be a newcomer arranged by the Main God...?" The veteran's mind was filled with uncertainty. He didn't know how to deal with Marcus.

This variable was a huge problem!

"Sorry, Mr. Foster, the elevator is disabled," James reported after checking the elevator.

"So we can only take the stairs?" Marcus asked.

Red Queen chimed in, "Yes, Mr. Foster, to prevent the T-virus from spreading, I forcibly disabled all the elevators."

Marcus shrugged. "That's really unfortunate! Let's take the stairs, everyone follow."

The veteran lowered his voice, "The first crisis is here!"

However, as they descended the stairs, Marcus's pace was unhurried. The team members who should have fallen behind according to the original plot survived.

"Congratulations! The host has altered the Main God's scenario, causing a slight ripple in the River of Destiny. The system has gained 2 destiny points," the Transcendence System notified him.

Marcus scoffed as he moved forward. Only 2 destiny points again?

Entering the Resident Evil world cost 10 destiny points, and using destiny points to reverse cause and effect and modify identity information consumed another 50 destiny points, meaning this time entering the Resident Evil world cost a total of 60 destiny points, yet he'd only gained 3!

This deal was too unprofitable!

Upon reaching the laser corridor, Marcus deliberately started a conversation, "By the way, James, what's your mission this time?"

James answered without hesitation, "Our mission is to shut down Red Queen and then bring her motherboard back to headquarters."

Red Queen immediately retorted, "Mr. Foster, you can't let them shut me down! If I'm shut down, the entire Hive will completely spiral out of control, and all the contained T-virus infected will be released. If that happens, even Mr. Foster will be in danger."

Marcus pretended to think for a moment before nodding firmly, "We definitely can't shut down Red Queen!"

"This..." James hesitated.

"Alright, that's settled then. I'll personally investigate the Hive." Marcus stated firmly.

"Yes, sir!" James could only agree.

"Congratulations! The host has changed the fate of James and the other commandos, preventing the release of T-virus infected, the release of T-virus mutants, and the shutdown of Red Queen, greatly controlling the spread of the T-virus and causing significant fluctuations in the River of Destiny. The system has gained 50 destiny points," the Transcendence System issued a notification.

Marcus paused!

It was 50 destiny points!

Just moments ago it was a losing deal, and now it was all going to be recouped in the blink of an eye?

Gambling in new worlds was indeed thrilling!

"Red Queen, open the laser corridor. I need to meet with you directly," Marcus commanded.

"Yes, Mr. Foster, it's a pleasure to meet you," Red Queen replied.

Before entering the laser corridor, Marcus asked in his mind, "How many destiny points are needed to disable the laser corridor by reversing cause and effect through destiny points?"

"If it's just disabling the laser corridor, only 1 destiny point is needed," the Transcendence System replied.

Once the laser corridor was disabled for a few seconds, the Terminators could destroy it. Even if Red Queen only outwardly submitted, Marcus wouldn't be trapped inside the laser corridor.

"James, you all stay outside. If you encounter T-virus infected, shoot them in the head. Right, Red Queen?" Marcus explained.

The Red Queen had already explained the information about the T-virus infected beforehand, then affirmed, "Mr. Foster is certainly correct."

"Red Queen knows how to communicate," Marcus praised, before walking into the laser corridor.

The lights in the laser corridor illuminated, and Marcus's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that the Red Queen was merely feigning submission?

However, the laser corridor only lit up; no laser was generated.

Marcus safely passed through the laser corridor and entered the Red Queen's control room.

The Red Queen projected herself onto the screen using a holographic projector, then greeted him again, "Hello, Independent Director Mr. Foster."

"Hello, Red Queen," Marcus responded. "I'd like to ask again, can you control the T-virus?"

This time, the Red Queen paused for a few seconds before replying, "I'm very sorry, Mr. Foster, I cannot control the T-virus. I can only try to slow down its spread and mutation."

"Why didn't you report the situation to headquarters?" Marcus pressed again.

The Red Queen countered, "Mr. Foster, can you answer one question for me?"

"Yes," Marcus replied.

"The team members—who exactly are they?" Red Queen inquired.

Before Marcus could respond, Red Queen added, "Their information is indeed entered into my system, but the security personnel's identities are unusual. All of our company's security personnel are required to undergo training by the Security division, and I couldn't find their information in the Security division's training records."

"Why are you asking me?" Marcus countered.

"Based on Mr. Foster's behavioral logic, Mr. Foster should know them," Red Queen explained.

Marcus considered for a moment, "What if I don't tell you?"

"Everything is done according to Mr. Foster's wishes," Red Queen responded.

"So why don't you report the Hive's situation to headquarters?" Marcus asked again.

The Red Queen didn't hide anything from Marcus despite his evasion. "Because all reports sent to headquarters were intercepted and deleted, the headquarters' information receiving port regarding the Hive has been compromised."

"Is that so?" Marcus frowned. He had seen the entire Resident Evil series and knew the complex situation of the Umbrella Corporation. He was even more aware that this T-virus release was clearly a world-ending conspiracy orchestrated by the Umbrella Corporation.

In fact, the Umbrella Corporation had planned this T-virus leak months ago, thus actively executing the apocalypse scenario and then establishing a new world dominated by the Umbrella Corporation.

Given such an ambitious plan, when the Red Queen reported the situation of the Hive to headquarters, it was indeed possible that it could be blocked!
