Bella Swan was confused, "Why did he disappear?"
"Hm?" Jade hummed in question as side by side they prepared dinner.
"Edward Cullen he never returned to school after that first day." Bella nibbled her lip as she chopped some potatoes they were going to boil them mash.
"Jessica said that the whole Cullen family suddenly decided to move."
Probably running away, news from Volturi probably had arrived making them worried for their other talented member.
It would be better this way. Bella could have a normal high school experience. She could go to college. She could live her life well without the drama that vampires would have thrown into the mix.
"Maybe he was ill and they needed to go see a specialist." Jade supplied a non-supernatural answer.
"Do you think that's why he'd been so weird to me? He was ill."
"I think anything is possible."
Bella frowned but nodded.
"How's the rest of school been?"
Bella began to tell about all her new friends, the recent gossip and Jade smiled. This is what Bella needed, to be a kid, not forced to be adult by Renee or Edward.
When the first ice came, Jade drove Bella to school making sure to see her inside before heading back to the truck.
Only to hear the screech of brakes, the whine of wheels against ice and the slamming force of from a van hitting Old Red sending Jade back in a crumpled heap against the schools back wall.
A broken arm, two cracked ribs and a concussion. All in all it could have been much worse. But this set Jade back.
Four months to heal. The blue maiden had stated she could still get hurt despite her being hardier than the average human which meant she could have very well have died if not for being hardier. Jade was grateful that she survived, even if it was irritating how much of an invalid she felt like.
One good thing came from it.
She started her own email pen pal relationship with Marcus using an encrypted email. Which then turned into instant messaging conversations.
He was solemn and reserved at first but slowly he opened up. He seemed to like how they did the 20 questions.
She answered all his as truthfully as she could.
M: Are you human?
J: Mostly.
M: How so?:
J: I am hardier than the average human and have access to certain...abilities that others do not.
M: How old are you?
J: Physically or Mentally?
...
...
M: How about both?
J: Physically currently 17. Mentally 40 years old.
In turn he answered her strange questions.
J: If you could be an alien, spellcaster, fairy or mer person which would you rather be?
...
...
...
M: What would be my abilities with each?
J: Alien - Memory Wipe, Disguise, Empathy, Transmutation, and Revive other aliens.
Spellcaster- A wide range of spells, potion skills and teleportation.
Fairy - A wide range of abilities that help with gardening, apothecary, and foraging. Also slight Empath Ability. Flight and teleportation.
Merperson - Elemental control, Siren, Communication with Sea Animals, Speed Swim,
M: I believe fairy. I developed a love for gardening, it helped me remember fond memories of my late wife. She would have laughed joyfully at the idea of me with fairy wings.
