Survival Log for the world I have ended up in. For the record my Earth name is Ellery Kingston. My ID number is 888-3 for all Expeditionary Forces of Earth. As of July 18 of 2096 I have successfully entered a new world. As per the rules of the EFE I am writing daily logs based on my experiences and observations in this new world. With the introduction to my logs done I shall start.
Survival Log Day Four
After waking and packing my stuff I had a quick breakfast then went to the Dwemer item storage. I loaded the old armor into a large bag with some other scrap. I took the large heavy bag down to the city blacksmith. The walk was short and downstairs but was slow as I had to lug around a massive heavy bag. I tossed it to the floor and immediately began negotiating with the smith.
Eventually I got him to accept payment in the form of Dwemer scrap as I had easy access to it. After that I left the ebony and Dwemer metal with him to start making the armor. While we had been discussing payment the apprentice had been taking measurements. After my business with the blacksmith I left to go to work. He'd be done the next day as he only had to make the chestplate and helmet.
After letting the workers in Calcelmo brought down some researchers. They all seemed a bit stupid but they were paying to get in here, which meant a small increase in everyone's pay. A few hours of study later a mercenary ran up to me. "Sir, an entrance to the Dwemer ruins has been found. A cave in occurred and we have been chase back to the main ruins by frostbite spiders. The researchers and their guards were forced to enter the Dwemer area and have been cut off from us."
"Alright, go down there and have the workers exit the entrance and have the mercenaries set up a choke point at the entrance." I looked to the young menial who'd been working with me and spoke. "You go to master Calcelmo an report this to him. Tell him to get the jarl to muster a force of veteran guardsmen and prepare all the anti poison potions he can."
As they left I put on some old unrepaired Dwemer armor and a shield. By the time I was done Calcelmo gotten a force of guards, most with Dwemer armor pieces, and some more mercenaries. He and his annoying nephew Aicantar led the group as they joined me. Aicantar was carrying a box of potions and Calcelmo held a staff. I nodded to them both and waved them to follow. I led the group down to the choke point where the mercs had set up. I quickly organized a shield wall and archers just behind them. The largest merc, an orc with a tower shield, led us into the cavern/mine towards the Dwemer entrance. We met a few spiders along the way but they quickly became pincushions.
When we finally got to the cavern with the large Dwemer doors a massive spider dropped from the ceiling and snatched the orc. He was immediately wrapped up and hung on the ceiling. Calcelmo slammed a large ball of fire into the spider which bounced it off the ceiling and it fell to the floor. It stood as the shield wall closed in and the archers started aiming for gaps in its chitin. A guard got slammed into a wall by shot of venom and then the spider began getting pummeled by the warriors. We found the spider tough to kill but with enough attacks it was eventually crippled and a spear was put through an eye.
With the spider dead we secured the room and went to the door. I couldn't really remember this Dwemer ruin from when I'd played the game but I did remember that there was a control room you had to get to. We found one of the researchers guards lying dead at the door with a note on his person basically calling the researchers useless in a fight. This was bad news as they obviously wouldn't last long in a Dwemer ruin with falmer and automatons.
I turned to speak with the group of mercenaries and guardsmen. "I need master Calcelmo and the guardsmen to stay here and make sure nothing gets out of these ruins. The mercenaries and Aicantar with come with me. We will find and extract the researchers and hopefully activate the Dwemer automaton security to exterminate the falmer in there." I looked to Aicantar and spoke. "You will stay in the middle of the group and give poison resistance and cure potions to anyone who needs them. We'll need a small shield wall to handle melee attacks and archers to take care of falmer bowmen and the mages. Remember, these things are blind but their other senses are heightened. They don't have actual training so they shouldn't be much of a problem. If you get poisoned call it out. Watch for traps, mark them if you can. Maintain a basic formation and don't split from the group. If we get the researchers out first we can activate the defenses and let them clear out the Falmer. Everyone prepared for combat, and someone please get the orc down from the ceiling."
Half an hour passed before everyone was ready. The large orc led at the front as we entered and met seven Falmer. My 15 mercs slammed into the goblinoid elf's and cut them down in seconds. When we got to the middle platform I spotted the researchers below us on another platform with a deactivated centurion at the wall connecting our floor to theirs. They spotted us as well so we tossed rope to them and tied it off on some Dwemer architecture. They quickly began climbing up before a group of Falmer began attacking. I began firing arrows alongside the archers as the remaining guards held the line. After ten minutes only a few guards were left on the lower floor.
As they began climbing I sent the researchers to the entrance. When the remaining guards got up we treated some for poison and sent them back as well. As we slowly went back I spotted a small overhang leading to a door that had been connected to the researchers floor via a stone bridge. As the archers covered us I led the way across the ledge to the door.
When we got to the door I slammed it open and we quickly entered. We slowly made our way around in a tight formation only fighting a few Falmer and a single mage. The only group we'd fought had charged us and the mage charged along with them. As it blasted us with ice I snatched its thin wrist and pulled it down while bringing my knee to meet its face. The creatures jagged teeth crunched against my armorweave as its skull crumpled. It fell to the ground and I stomped its neck. A larger warrior then engaged me as the stupidly strong Falmer weakened the shield wall. It's armor didn't do much however as I swung through its arm to remove its claw like weapon and stabbed my blade into its chest.
We continue the exploration into the ruin and eventually get to the actual control room. The room is locked but I easily melt through the gates lock and we enter. There a lot of small levers and buttons but the security activates as I hit the largest lever on the console table. A pinging sound goes off and then lots of hissing of steam. The screaming of calmer quickly begins and is eventually ended a few hours later.
I hit the lever a second time and the ping sounds again. Hissing starts as the automatons deactivate and we begin looting the place. We first sweep the ruins for anything alive then do another sweep taking and splitting the loot. The armory proves very nice as we all leave with dwarven armor and weapons. I find a nice compound bow and arrows and a nice pair of dwarven gauntlets. The orc who'd done a lot of fighting had gotten himself a full set of armor besides the helmet and a maul.
We find a lot of gems and I split them between the mercs while taking the rare Dwemer items. I dismantled the two Dwemer centurions with my durasteel ally machete and took the dynamo cores. When we finally left we also carved every Falmer ear from the intact bodies to sell. They sold highly for resist poison potions. We allowed the researchers to go back in after we left and I sold the dynamo core and other items to Calcelmo. I got 200 gold for each and 300 for the rest of the items. I'd snagged some soul gems from the armory and automatons so I went to get my armor from the blacksmith to bring it back here to get Calcelmo to enchant it.
The sun was setting after I organized a guard rotation so I rushed to get my armor and pay for it. The armor was heavy but fit perfectly and the ebony lightened it as most of the chestplate and shoulders were made of it. I took the armor and went to the inn I'd been staying at. I payed for a cheap room and ate a large meal. I laid down in bed and wrote this log.
Thus concludes my day four survival log for this world.
