Chapter 34: Types of World Travel

FBI Los Angeles field office.

Around 11 PM, in Stevens's office, Marcus and Stevens were talking.

"Marcus, are you sure you've obtained root access to these Terminators?" Stevens asked nervously, glancing at the six Terminators standing outside the office.

Marcus laughed and replied confidently, "Don't worry, I'm 100% sure I have their root access. Otherwise, why do you think I'd dare bring them along?"

Stevens smiled awkwardly, "It's good that you're sure."

"Okay," Marcus replied, "Alright, Stevens, I'm heading back now. Call me if anything comes up."

"Okay," Stevens responded.

Near midnight, Marcus returned to his residence on 21st Street. Six Terminators guarded his house, allowing him to sleep peacefully.

In the bedroom, Marcus lay on his back, communicating with the Transcendence System.

"I suddenly have a question," Marcus asked in his mind. "Currently, we have two ways to travel between worlds. The first is what you called 'Fortunate Selection,' which is how we first entered the Terminator world."

"The second way is our plan to return from the Terminator world to my own, establishing a World Gate to connect the two worlds, thus achieving free travel between them," Marcus continued.

"Are there other ways?" Marcus asked, voicing his doubts.

The Transcendence System responded, "Of course there are other ways. For example, the 'Random Selection,' which corresponds to 'Fortunate Selection,' uses 10 destiny points to randomly break through dimensional barriers, thereby connecting to an unknown world."

"Completely random selection?" Marcus inquired specifically, "Is there any pattern when randomly connecting worlds?"

The Transcendence System responded negatively, "There is no pattern. Through 'Random Selection,' it is possible to connect to any world, including but not limited to technological worlds, magical worlds, cultivation worlds, and so on."

Marcus added, "If we enter those supernatural worlds, will technological items become unusable due to the different laws governing those worlds?"

"There is indeed a certain probability that the situation you described could occur, but this probability is extremely small, almost purely theoretical," the Transcendence System responded.

"Oh?" Marcus asked, puzzled.

"The only worlds that could directly cause technological items to malfunction are extremely rare non-material worlds, fundamentally lacking a material basis and physical laws. Whether it's a magical world or a fantasy world, they are all composed of matter and possess basic physical laws; they just have different directions of development," the Transcendence System explained.

"As long as they possess matter and basic laws, technological items won't become ineffective. Of course, in certain specific areas, such as the domain of certain extremely powerful beings, the power to directly modify the rules or even redefine the laws cannot rule out the possibility of technological items becoming ineffective," the Transcendence System added.

Marcus pressed further, "What kind of extremely powerful being could tamper with the rules or even redefine the laws?"

"Taking the world of cultivation as an example, those saints who transcend eternity possess the ability to redefine the laws; taking the world of magic as an example, those true god-level powerhouses also possess the power to redefine the laws within their divine kingdoms," the Transcendence System explained.

It then added, "In technological worlds, civilizations starting from the fourth tier can be considered to possess the ability to redefine the laws, and the seventh tier technological civilization can be considered to be at the level of transcendent saints who surpass everything."

"Are transcendent saints really possible?" Marcus couldn't help but ask, "Is it really possible for a seventh tier technological civilization to exist?"

The Transcendence System remained silent for a few moments before responding affirmatively, "Transcendent saints exist, true god-level powerhouses exist, and seventh-tier civilizations also exist, and there might even be more than one seventh-tier civilization."

"Wow!" Marcus gasped.

"Whether it's transcendent saints, true god-level powerhouses, or seventh-tier civilizations, they are all too far removed from the host; the host has no need to worry about them," the Transcendence System responded.

Marcus nodded silently. Those incredibly powerful beings were indeed irrelevant to him. Did knowing of their existence mean he would be affected?

Not at all!

"Besides randomly choosing which world to travel to?" Marcus asked.

"There are also some powerful abilities that can achieve the effect of traveling to different worlds, such as [Dimensional Exile], [Void Teleportation], [Planar Banishment], and so on. Also, some worlds contain special spatial rifts that may allow people to travel between worlds," the Transcendence System explained.

Marcus immediately recognized these abilities as problematic. "They all randomly and forcibly transport people to different worlds, right?"

The Transcendence System confirmed Marcus's statement. "That's right."

"Tch!" Marcus was too lazy to complain. He glanced at his destiny points. After the Skynet gift pack, he now had a full 84 points. After considering it for a moment, he decided to try his luck.

"Let's invest 10 destiny points and take a chance. Let's see if we can find a favorable world," Marcus said.

Marcus added, "By the way, if we find a suitable world and decide to go there, can we come back? Or do we have to earn 100 destiny points on the other side and open another World Gate before we can return?"

If it's necessary to open another World Gate, Marcus needs to think it over carefully.

After all, 100 destiny points is not a small amount. What if they go to a decent world, but don't earn 100 destiny points?

Wouldn't that be a complete loss?

The Transcendence System responded, "There are three ways to return."

"The first is to establish a World Gate, as the host said, and return through the World Gate." The Transcendence System added, "The world connected to the World Gate can be chosen independently. Even if the host starts from the Terminator world, the World Gate can still be connected to the original world."

Marcus nodded slightly.

"The second method is to establish a dimensional anchor. Before the host departs, 10 more destiny points are consumed to establish a dimensional anchor point in the Terminator world. Once the host wants to return from the new world, they can directly return to the Terminator world," the Transcendence System explained the situation.

"The last resort is a return to origin. If the host didn't establish a dimensional anchor point before departure and is unable to open the World Gate, they can choose to consume 20 destiny points to return to the original world's World Gate," the Transcendence System explained.

Marcus breathed a sigh of relief. Since there was a cheaper way back, what was there to worry about?

Let's do this!
